At the very least, I would think that someone ought to investigate the potential links, but I don’t suppose the pharmaceutical companies are all that eager to fund that kind of study...
What Good Can a Handgun Do Against An Army?

Similar point was discussed in “The Not So Wild West” by Terry Anderson. The actual murders were no worse west of the Mississippi in the frontier towns and cities than the were in the Eastern United States, some cities had for a time slightly worse rates, such as NYC with it’s rising gang activity. If you haven’t read it, it’s worth a read, especially considering much of the people in the Old West had visible firearms on their person.
Good one vet, in fact, didn’t we fight the British despite them having the actual Naval Power both in the American Revolution and the War of 1812? Didn’t the British possess more of that heavy artillery? I thought so, but I think Afghanistan is a better example. The Taliban has IEDs and old Russian AK Rifles, but they still have a will to fight despite being the targets of U.S. Superior Firepower for 12 years. If the Taliban can hurt by attrition, so, possibly, could some American determined fighters.
Many of their weapons were hand-built by little boys in caves and in shanties in Pakistan. I watched a video several years ago on the subject.
My friend, The AK Rifle series is a black market gun of choice the world over, not just Afghanistan, but worldwide, we even had the shooters in North Hollywood assemble fully functional AKs in their own home by simply acquiring black market parts and ammo. AKs are cheap, and well designed, and somewhat easy to assemble, and people can get the separate parts and put them together.
