A man is in critical condition after he was shot in the head by a store clerk, officials said.

At about 1 a.m. Monday, Bakersfield police officers were sent to the Mi Tierra Market located at 300 South Owens St. regarding a robbery.

Officials said the store clerk told them that he had shot one of the suspects.

Officers said they found evidence that was consistent with one of the suspects being shot, but the suspects had since fled from the store.

Officers said the clerk said three men entered the business and at least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun. The clerk said the men ordered the store employees to the ground at which time the victim retrieved a handgun and fired a single round at the suspects, officers said.

At 1:05 a.m., the BPD received a call from Kern Medical Center indicating that a victim of a gunshot wound to the head that had arrived at the hospital by taxi, officers said.

I bet the clerk buys ANOTHER gun.

What would be a FABULOUS determent is a dog...a nice big German Shepherd or a big ole Rottweiler. TWO dogs, buddies, would be EVEN better.
LOL. Those dogs would start snarling AS SOON as one of those jerks walked into the store. Dogs can SMELL "bad news."

The guy should REALLY close a little earlier. No one GOOD is out on the prowl at that hour.

Gee, I wonder why there is no description of the suspect still at large, them detectives might get a tip from the public?

I wonder what would be the State’s posture if the defender employed an obvious Kratos or Mozambique doctrine?

One of four suspects was shot and listed in critical condition at Kern Medical Center.

Should the 4 who escaped called paramedics to their residence/hideout to pick up their severely wounded co-conspirator?

My hunch would be they just drove somewhere, dumped him on bus bench etc., and called a cab telling cab dispatch to take him to the hospital...

Tip from the public is generally not needed if one to the suspect was shot/caughts...The first to squeal gets the deal...Even if he dies, it will be easy to find who his family/friends/associates are and have the store owner ID them....

Piece of cake.

Mi Tierra

LOL, the robbers should have picked up on that clue. As dumb as the robbers who tried to hit "Uncle Tony's Italian Cuisine".

Well they should tell the public the descriptions in most cases...But sometimes the cops don't want the remaining suspects to know how good of descriptions they have, as it might cause them to head the tall grass.

My point was in crimes involving more then one suspect, once one suspect in a crime is captured, it's generally only a matter of time until he rats out his buddies to save his own butt.

They turn on each other quickly...No honor amongst thieves.

Now that's reporting.

I just wonder what qualified the officers for making that determination... Are they certified "blood spattered all over the place" identifiers?

The bad guys dumped his and called a taxi to pick him up. I suspect the man with the gunshot to the head will be a little irritated with his comrades. He will sing like a bird. He is lucky his friends did not put a slug in his brain.

Why would the clerk have to buy another gun? If he’s like many of us, can never have too many guns or enough ammunition. He’ll just pull another one out of his safe until they return the one he shot the bad guy with.
