"I’m sure this is just a mix-up."

Of course, and Kerry will fix it. Ha! Sorta reminds you of the hostages in Iran in the Carter years, doesn't it? I would not be surprised if they were held for months and months. What is Kerry going to do? Say please and/or give them more promises?

Off topic: My bet is Iran nukes Israel (wouldn't take many for such a small land mass) and the World goes to war. However, this time nukes will be passing each other in the region, if not internationally. Not really worried about Russia or China, they don't want to kill our debt to them, but Pakistan and India could go all out. I truly believe we are looking at nuclear war. If not Iran, then North Korea. They are both governed by crazies.

"The four have now been released."

Good news. Wonder why. What happened behind the scenes? Did we buy them off again? Or did some high ranking military official say enough is enough - doubt that.

Well he must have said something, because we're both sitting here with egg on our face.  The Libyan leadership jumped on this with both feet, to let them go.  I would have sided with you here.So this begs the question, why?  Why did they let them go?  Are their allies in Syria on their case for putting support for them in jeopardy?  Is it the same entity in both countries, Libya and Syria?  Is there a dynamic I've long suspected, but hasn't been revealed publicly yet?  Is this a multi-national effort by one entity to security a United States of Iran, or whoever across the Middle-East into Northern Africa, just for starters?  That gets my bet BTW.

We're the best friend Al Qaeda ever had now.  Surely we'll make amends with the Taliban too soon enough.  I mean, it's just a few minor disagreements when you get down to it, according to Kerry and Obama (I'm sure).

Off topic: My bet is Iran nukes Israel (wouldn't take many for such a small land mass) and the World goes to war. However, this time nukes will be passing each other in the region, if not internationally. You never can say for sure.  I will say this, both India and Pakistan have had the bomb for decades.  In the last ten years or so, Pakistan has lessened it's provocations.  I don't know why.  Perhaps the U. S. did something, I'm not sure.  I'd suspect Pakistan had more to gain from cooperating with the U. S., than antagonizing it.  It has allowed us a lot of latitude without doing much more than 'saving face' internally by bitching and moaning when we crossed it's borders to carry out kills.  We wouldn't sit still for that.  (of course we do with our illegals, but you know what I mean in principle)  I also think the leadership felt we were in essense helping to keep their political enemies in check by doing this.  So Kavetch (sp?), wink wink, nod nod, business as usual.By and large, Pakistan has kept it's nukes in check.  It doesn't seem to be gifting tech to terrorists.  It could have been a whole lot worse IMO.  So yes, I do have some beefs with Pakistan, and it still could go rogue.  I'm not convinced it will unless the Taliban do seize control.  Then of course, all bets are off.  It could happen too.

As for Iran nuking Israel, nobody has explained to me how you do that without wiping out either the West Bank, Gaza, or both during the process.  This isn't directed at you.  It is a real problem though.  I don't think it can be done.

If Israel is attacked with nukes, Western Europe is going to have to take both feet out of it's mouth, and have a come to Jesus moment.  It has basically sided with Russia and China by dragging it's feet with regard to Iran.  It did the same thing with Iraq.  They're a bunch of wussie Kerry-types.  With these ilk, it takes something they can't deny by lying their asses off before they get religion, and then they'll claim they were really on your side all along anyway.  Liars.  Just once I'd love to see some big-mouths rounded up after one of these fiascos, and let them pay for their intransegence.

Of course the U. N. is worthless.  The E. U. is trying hard to best them at being worthless, but try as they will, the U. N. has had longer to practice at subtrifuge.

Is this the beginning fo the end?  Honestly, I don't like how things are lining up.  Russia seems poised to make Syria an even bigger mess.  Russia has been in the region since the 50s.  Prophecy could have been fulfilled at any point regarding it's involvement in the final conflict.  I do think Obama being in charge here and the destabalization he is facilitating makes this a very dangerous time.

Until the adults are back in charge, there's no safe bet on what happens.  Iran is going to get the bomb if it doesn't already have it.  I honestly can't imagine Western nations being dumb enough to allow it, but Russia and the E. U. stand an even chance of being it's first target.  There are islamic rebels all over southern Russia, and they have shown a willingness to be as ruthless as anyone.  It's a fools game, and it's tough to say which fool is going to get bit first here.

Maybe the Egyptian Army "needs" a worthy enemy to bring the situation "under control."

I honestly can't imagine Western nations being dumb enough to allow it, but Russia and the E. U. stand an even chance of being it's first second target.

Europe is big enough to adsorb the first hit, far enough away to present targeting hazards, and has sufficient nukes to retaliate with sufficient force to be fatal to the Iranian regime. Meanwhile, the mullahs are just dumb enough to try Israel first. Their problem is that they'd need to MIRV to be sure to beat Israel's ABM capabilities. Yet if the first try fails, my bet is that they're toast.

For all the bluster, I have a hard time seeing Iran as stupid enough to hit Israel. Those guys make comments for domestic consumption, but when push comes to shove, I’m not convinced they make a move at all.

Besides, how do you hit Israel without destroying the West Bank and or Gaza as well?

My thoughts on hitting Europe or Russia, would Iran providing tech to terrorists, and watching them do their work by proxy. It wouldn’t be a direct strike. Too easy to pin blame.

Could a device be smuggled into Israel? I honestly don’t know. That wall has helped a lot. The sea option is still there.

I think Israel would take out Tehran immediately after any strike of this nature against Israel.

Those are Sunnis. Iranian Shiites don't give a crap about them.

The sea option is still there.

I'm not so sure. Detection equipment for containers has advanced a long way.

Sunnis vs... LOL

Man, those folks have enough to chew on just sorting out their own clans.

I would hope container detection equipment was up to snuff. If not, we’re in a heap of trouble.

I’m not convinced either way, but I’ll admit I’m in no real position to know.

I’m not convinced either way

Neither am I, particularly when corruption and incompetence are involved, as is even more rampant in that part of the world than it is here.

That’s true...

I will say, that since it has become so openly blatant the corruption in Washington, D. C., I now question just how corruption free we are in areas I never did before.
