New York federal judge rules NSA phone surveillance is legal

A federal judge in New York has ruled that the National Security Agency's massive collection of American citizens' telephone records is both legal and useful.

U.S. District Judge William Pauley wrote in his opinion issued Friday that the program "represents the government's counter-punch" to eliminate al-Qaeda's terror network.

Pauley raised the specter of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and how the phone data-collection system could have helped investigators connect the dots before the attacks occurred.

Pauley's decision appears to conflict with a ruling earlier this month by U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon, who granted a preliminary injunction against the collecting of phone records of two men who had challenged the program.

He said that the program likely violates the U.S. Constitution's ban on unreasonable search.

They mostly just store raw data on a big hard drive. They don’t bother to listen to each phone call. How they decide which bits of raw data require further scrutiny and use it to stop terror attacks is beyond me. How they allegedly keep themselves from abusing the system to target political foes both large and small is not believable imho. Would the libtards have let Dubya get away with something this massive?

This is a bit off the subject. However, remember the investigator for the Aaron Hernandez case, it seemed like he used such tactics to place him at the scene. I think they traced his cell phone signal at the scene or the vehicle GPS signal. Anyway, I debated with myself if even this would violate the Bill of Rights, where the police can use such tactics to retrace your movements.

I do this Aaron was involved with the murder, and there is many other pieces of evidence which suggest this.

Criminal aliens have more rights than US citizens.

“Compassionnate conservatism” and all that BS.

Enforcing our immigration laws would have also worked

And that's why we currently live in the New Immigration Police State.

How can any "nation" survive if its enemies freely walk in and set up houskeeping among us, while our so-called government lectures us and forces us to live with them, even saying that they are us?

It is a permanent state of Treason against the sovereign people, maintained ONLY by a police state.

No such thing was needed prior to 1965.

You say what of the Great Wave from Europe between 1890 - 1920?

Recall the Palmer raids and the fact that the Leftist insurrectionists were summarily thrown out of the country. They went home to their precious Soviet Union where they probably ended up in Work Camp #7. Stalin didn't like rebels either.

The Rainbow Nation don't work. Diversity ain't our strength, it's a mortal blow to the body politic.

He’s a paid government shill. A jury composed of Mafia members wouldn’t find a fellow Mafioso guilty either.

U.S. District Judge William Pauley should now allow the world to scrutinize his every communication.

the good news is NY state is shrinking and will have less members in the federal house of rep.

We are seeing the “escape from NY” in real life.

The judge is just another well placed infiltrator in the legal system. These days, most of them are.

Of course not—and I don’t think Republicans would have let President Bush pass this, either. (I also don’t think it would have ever entered their minds to do so.)

Pauley raised the specter of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and how the phone data-collection system could have helped investigators connect the dots before the attacks occurred.

Never mind the Gorelick Wall, Able Danger and three failed strikes at Bin Laden under the watch of the despot that appointed him.

Hard to argue with a liebral ,, much less a liebral Judge.
