The commissars have already been put in place, and this bill expands them. In the Army at least, young attorney’s (JAGs) have already been dedicated solely to dealing with sexual harassment. If they want to be successful, they will need to tack more scalps on the wall than the average. Not surprisingly, the number of “reported”cases has ballooned 50 percent year over year. Subordinates now have surer ability to end a career than superiors, simply by making an unsubstantiated complaint, and letting the professional sharks make the kill.

This law expands the “special” victims counsels for sexual assault “survivors”. In other words, more commissars.

One of the most important characteristics of the military justice system has been the constraints against “unlawful command influence”. JAG officers counsel commanders on how to avoid it, and defense JAG officers pounce on it when it occurs. The result has been a system where justice, not conviction rate has been paramount. The public’s perception is exactly the opposite, tut that perception is wrong.

In the civilian world, politics is the equivalent of unlawful command influence and the influence of politics is the primary driving force for many prosecutors. They give the public what they demand, convictions and they could give a damn about justice.

Once politics gains the upper hand within the military, our Armed Forces will be doomed. The signs are ominous.

“Keep women off warships.”

Plain & simple, it is.

I didn’t realize sexual assaults were such a problem in Afghanistan. Is there any money for weapons, combat pay, supplies?
