A Left-Wing America Stands Alone
Front Page Magazine ^ | December 26, 2013 | Daniel Greenfield

American progressives like to think of their country as backward and reactionary compared to Europe. And they have never been more right than now when Europe and the rest of the First World have gone right while America under Obama has been left back.

Recently Australia, Japan and Norway welcomed in conservative governments. Tony Abbott, Australia’s new prime minister, is a former heavyweight boxer who attended Oxford and is putting a spoke in the wheel of the Global Warming ecohoax. Japan is casting off its pacifism and standing up to the People’s Republic of China and Norway gave its left-wing government the boot and moved in “Iron Erma” in a coalition with the libertarian Progress Party which opposes taxes and immigration and supports free enterprise.

Australia, Japan and Norway are not outliers. The majority of First World countries now have conservative governments.

Canada has embraced a patriotic foreign policy and energy exploration under Prime Minister Stephen Harper. In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his conservative Likud party have continued to move Israel’s economy toward free enterprise. And even in the UK, Prime Minister David Cameron, for all his follies, is a conservative, even if he is more McCain than DeMint, and has pushed for deregulation and welfare reform.

Sweden’s center-right coalition government has won re-election for the first time in a century. Norway and Sweden, countries that Americans used to consider the very embodiments of Socialism, now both have conservative governments.

In Germany, Angela Merkel will serve a third term as chancellor. The Netherlands still has a conservative government which has come out against multiculturalism and the welfare state.

In Spain, the center-right People’s Party won the biggest majority of any party in three decades and is projected to win reelection. In Poland, the center-right Civic Platform continues to govern. In Greece, it’s the center-right New Democracy. In Portugal, it’s the Social Democratic Party and the People’s Party (somewhat on the right, despite their names). In Iceland, it’s the conservative Independence Party and the Progressive Party (also on the right, despite its name.)

Even Europe’s left-wing parties have had to adapt to the new economic environment. Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, who has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons, has suffered a severe setback in municipal elections and is scrambling to hold her left-wing government together. And even Thorning-Schmidt only made it this far by embracing welfare reform, cutting corporate taxes and slashing unemployment benefits.

The rule of the radical left in the United States is very much an outlier in the rest of the First World where conservative and center-right parties predominate. The conventional First World response to the economic crisis has been to cut spending and reform welfare, while in the United States has spent more money than ever before and expanded welfare.

Much of Europe now favors less federalism and less immigration. The United States has expanded its federal government dramatically and both Democratic and Republican leaders support amnesty for illegal aliens at a time when immigration is politically toxic everywhere else.

The American left insists that historical inevitability is on its side, but it has lost nearly everywhere else.

America stands alone under the rule of the left, in uncontrolled spending, uncontrolled immigration and the iron hand of the welfare state.

America’s massive wealth and resources have allowed the left to act as if it could borrow against them indefinitely to finance its big government schemes. Smaller countries don’t have the luxury of running up infinite debts and not worrying about how they will be paid back or pretending that impossible rates of economic growth will compensate for trillion dollar deficits.

America is the left’s economic fantasyland because it has so much that they imagine that it will take a long time to bankrupt.

Europe is dominated by parliamentary democracies where it would have been difficult for an executive to stay in office on popularity and racial guilt after his actual policies had been completely discredited. In a parliamentary democracy, the 2010 midterm elections wouldn’t have just meant a Republican House of Representatives, but would have booted Obama out of the White House.

Conservatives denounce populist politics in America, but it’s actually the remnants of the system that safeguards political power from populist elections that has kept the Senate and the White House in the hands of the left while turning over the House of Representatives to the Republicans creating a crisis in which the populist body could do nothing, while Obama unilaterally ushered in an imperial presidency.

Another major difference is that America has a higher percentage of minorities than most other First World countries. In many First World nations, the left has assembled minorities into a welfare coalition. But such a coalition is much more potent in the United States because of demographics.

Finally, there is the Obama factor.

Hillary Clinton would probably have lost in 2012. Most Democratic hacks would have. But the cult of personality built around Obama by the news and entertainment industry has been very hard to breach. Only the “If you like your health plan” lie has finally put a serious dent in his likability and trust ratings.

Obama is something unique. He’s the end product of a venture by liberal billionaires from the financial and tech sectors to build a radical Trojan horse politician. They invested a great deal of money into their project and the dividends have been huge. No other First World country has been victimized by such a calculated scheme or had so many resources invested in hijacking its democracy.

Some 6 billion dollars were raised and spent in the 2012 election. Those are astronomical amounts of money and they are probably only the tip of the iceberg. Beating that kind of spending isn’t easy.

While the rest of the First World moves on, America remains trapped in the defunct economic and political grip of the left. After dedicating enormous resources to taking over the Democratic Party and then the country, the left has turned the United States of America into its Soviet Union, a country out of time, its economy and society wracked by the discredited political and economic theories of the left.

“E pluribus unum” means “from the many, one”. Multiculturalism stands for preventing that process. Keep the Hispanics talking Spanish. Keep the blacks riled up about slavery and Jim Crow. Keep the Islamists assaulting infidels. E pluribus—scratch that. It’s in Latin, a dead European language—”min al katheereen, katheeroon. “From the many, many” (slaves?).

It's a cyclical thing. It comes around and goes around.

And even in the UK, Prime Minister David Cameron, for all his follies, is a conservative, even if he is more McCain than DeMint, and has pushed for deregulation and welfare reform.

Cameron just may be closer to Obama than to DeMint. I doubt he'd be any closer -- could be any closer -- to a conservative Republican than he is to Obama. Not sure why that is, but Cameron wants to be Obama's best friend for some reason.

In a parliamentary democracy, the 2010 midterm elections wouldn’t have just meant a Republican House of Representatives, but would have booted Obama out of the White House.

In a parliamentary democracy, you would never have elections two years after you'd won a big victory. You'd play out the clock and wait 4 or 5 years. By that time, the cycle would have come back around and you'd stand a better chance of winning.

It's over.

Demographics are destiny.

The electoral college is almost already a Democrat lock - is Virginia really still a swing state? Iowa?

But more importantly - the Hispanic Texas voters that will make that state the next California are already here, they're just not old enough to vote yet.

this was the goal of the democrats’ 1965 immigration act. before then USA immigrants were almost all from Europe. after that act immigrants came almost entirely from Mexico and the 3rd world as was the democrats plan to put the 3rd worlders on their plantation as they did the blacks.

IF we win the Senate back in 2014, and keep control of the House, the conservatives can do things to Obama and his marxists that we could only dream about a year ago.

We need a widescale series of indepth congressional hearings into WHO created, presided over, and worked on the failed projects of the Obama regime.

1. Fast and Furious - all names, then criminal charges and more lawsuits

2. Solyndra and other “green” frauds. Names, grand juries, trials, jail, assets seizures, including politicians.

3. The Carbon Dioxide Global Warming hoax. Same. and a purge of the top offenders from academia (alumni= stop giving to these damned leftist universities and make a statement about why you are doing so.

4. A complete review of the ongoing “purge” of the military, and getting fools like Dempsey, Mabus and other top girlymen in DOD to testify as to their failed policies including the Rules of Engagement which have killed hundreds of American military personnel in Afghanistan.
Criminal trials for the Manat and Op. Keating fiascos.

5. A complete investigation of the communist/marxist backgrounds of both past and present members of congress, White House staff, advisors, and the president. If you don’t believe me that the “Progressive Caucus” is really a Marxist Caucus, then go read Trevor Loudon’s two books “The Enemies Within” and “The Enemies Within: Marxists, Socialists and Progressives in the US Congress”, www.pacificfreedomfoundation.org.

6. Investigating the internal security failures of the FBI from 9/11 to the Boston Marathon Bombings.

7. Investigate the almost total failure of the TSA, Dept. of Homeland Security, and Secret Service/scandals.

8. A complete review of US - Russia/Red Chinese/Vietnamese military cooperation/operations. Why are we aiding our enemies? Who is behind this accomodationist policy, and why?

We need to totally clean out the Congress, the military hierarchy, and related organizations, including Soros’ fronts such as the Open Society Institute and Campaign for American Progress, two marxist fronts which were built, in part, on the older marxist Institute for Policy Studies.

Follow the money trail of Soros, Lewis, the Hollywood Leftists, corrupt financial corporation leaders, and the Clinton/Gore, Obama/Biden “kickback” groups.

This is the only way we are going to bring Obama down, hopefully for impeachment. Once the American people see the marxist and criminal rot that is the basestone of the Obama rule, then they will support a purge of the Left that has never been seen before in America.

Investigations into the media’s role in leaking our national defense/security secrets would be an eye-opener without violating First Amendment rights. You can expose without bringing criminal actions. Sometimes that is all you need to destroy evil. The House Committee on UnAmerican Activities did it in the mid-60’s, exposed the Ku Klu Klan on television, and helped to break its back in the eyes of the public.

We need that use of investigative hearings/televised hearings, to show the American people just how rotten our political system has become, from both marxist penetration, subversion and deception (Obama’s election), and criminal business companies (thru bribery, kickbacks, and buying ambassadorships).

We also need “bulldog” committee chairmen who are not afraid to tear into the Democrats with a vengeance.

Put pressure on the Congressional Left and never let it ease up. Destroy them through exposure. It will help augment what is now being revealed about Obamacare.

An awakened American electorate is the best weapon we have for keeping our freedom. If not, we are doomed.

Being awake is only the FIRST part of the problem.

1. The alarm has to be set to go off at the right time; and...

2. The sleepy heads then need to be given the correct information.

Do NOT let Mr. Taylor control the information flow...

I hope we’ll begin to tack back to the right in 2014 with a majority in the senate.

I pray you are correct, but I don’t have much optimism in the GOP Senate, especially looking at the senior leadership. We believe the votes are there to stop the outrage and they kick us in the nuts because most are progressive big government traitors.

@ Post 46 - if McConnell had 1/10th of your passion we would be okay, but don’t hold your breath with the GOP leadership in the Senate. They possess some genuine fire about every 5 that is uniquely timed to elections.

McConnell would spit on your excellent suggestions, and that my FRiend is the problem.

The vision of a weak, socialistic America has been a wet dream for liberals for decades. Now that that objective has been achieved, and other countries that have learned the lessons of the destructive nature of nanny-state policies move away from them, America will continue to find itself even more isolated.

“What way too many whites fail to grasp. No matter what you think about race it is used and will continued to be used against whites as a battering ram.”

You have nailed it, the third rail no one will speak about. Is the US some sort of odd man out compared to the rest of the “west”? Sure if you include the US in the “west”, compared to other nations of majority western-European origin people the US seems to be the only one tacking left.

However if we look south of the border we see whole swathes of formerly conservative (heck almost fascist) nations electing, and re-electing leftist governments in Latin America, and suddenly the US doesn’t look like such an odd man out does it?

The US has changed, it is no longer the nation which elected Reagan, the people who voted Reagan by a landslide still vote conservative by a landslide but those people are no longer the predominant voice in America. Not after a quarter century of open borders.

Look south, there is America’s future.

Where they have “power”, conservatives tend to be stereotypically conservative.

Among civilized nations who are now wide-awake to their problems with the erroneous coddling and encouragement of a permanent underclass, America is now a bona-fide pariah.

Our nation is being led by a mystery man who is aligned with that permanent underclass. He hates America and any traditions that haven’t been trampled under the feet of the vast unwashed masses that love to live here and use up any resources left.

Our days as a viable nation able to support its population with meaningful work and ample food supplies is over. In other words, our best days are behind us and the glimpses into the future are ghastly!

This should demonstrate how lopsided the political scene has become. A Conservative Cameron today is the equivalent of yesterday's Walter Mondale.

The American political machine does indeed love left wing governments because they can continue to shovel money that doesn't actually exist into them. It gives them a warm and cozy feeling just like their creation of a permanent underclass here in their Amerika!
