A day after a judge’s surprise ruling overturned Utah’s same-sex marriage ban, at least one county clerk intended to open early Saturday to issue licenses.

About 40 minutes north of Salt Lake City, about 300 hundred people showed up at the Weber County Clerk’s Office on Saturday afternoon but were later turned away without marriage licenses. […]

The confusion Saturday and reports of other crowds scrambling to find an open office illustrated how gay marriage caught many in Utah off guard. …

“at least one county clerk intended to open early Saturday to issue licenses.”

Then order the damn state troopers to arrest him. The AG has the authority of the law in Utah, not some Obammunist appointed judge. If Utah does not crack down on what is a clear breach of its sovereignty by Obama’s judicial nitwits, then it essentially surrenders all its rights as a state.

We wouldn’t have let Utah join the union had it been apparent it would roll over and be raped by the tyranny of a future Stalinist usurper. All states have the responsibility and duty to resist tyranny on this scale.

Now, in the olden days, that judge would next be seen walking down an Idaho or Wyoming road clothed in nothing but tar and feathers. His butt would be bloody from riding a split rail fence post, sharp side up.

The state has given notice that it will appeal the ruling and has asked for an emergency stay to stop gay couples from getting marriage licenses. But legal experts say that even if a stay is granted, the licenses that have already been issued will likely still be valid.

UT is not that conservative; people there just think Orrin Grant Hatch, sponsor of the Ruth Bader Ginsburg nomination, is “a conservative.”

GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch recommended Shelby for appointment in 2011.

Impy, any theories on what the plan is here that the left-wing is pushing? Possibly: get the marriage issue before the court and try for a landmark decision ... if it fails 5-4 cuz Kennedy balks, the defeat could galvanize their left-wing base for the ‘14 and ‘16 elections.

They need a defeat to keep their culture war going.

Republican senator Orrin Hatch recommended Judge Shelby for appointment to the U.S. District Court in November 2011.

Both Republican Senators from Utah, Orrin Hatch and Mike Lee, endorsed his nomination.

Shelby’s nomination was confirmed by the Senate in a voice vote September 22, 2012.

He received his appointment from Obama on September 25, 2012.

I don’t think they want a defeat, I think that’s silly.

“how about polygamy?”

Gay polygsmy?

I guess they all form a circle, then the preacher yells “right face” and tnen... “to the rear march.”

Seems like it would be a lot easier than heterosexual polygamy where one poor bastard would be stuck with all the work.

We wouldn’t have let Utah join the union had it
____________________________________

continued with the practice of sexual perversion called polygamy...openly..

however in 1890 the Mormons there pretended to stop their serial adultery as a religious worship (Illegal habitation) and they were allowed to be a state...

however the truth was that the Mormon so called “prophets” and others continued to have extra women as “wives” right up to the 1940s when the last polygamous “prophet” died...

and the religious tenet of “doctrines and covenants 132” as written by Joseph Smith the first so called “prophet” requiring all Mormon men to commit wholesale adultery in the form of polygamy for “salvation” is still part of their accepted and treasured beliefs to this day..

Joseph Smith wanted to intimidate and coerce his wife Emma into allowing him to continue his cheatin ways so he invented a new directive from his convenient Mormon gods that if she tried to stop him from his many nbooty calls his mormon gods would “destroy” her...

so Utah Territory has 170 years of abnormal sexual practices..

this is just one more..

homosexuality, adultery..

God hates both and both are sin and lead to damnation..

Plus Willard is the father of same-sex marriage as the gov in MASS..

He needs to be accepted by the current “culture” for his next run for POTUS in 2016..

Hes had his finger up in the wind again...

BTW after Utah did finally become a state in the 1890s the Mormons there sent a well known polygamist to the US Senate..the guy had at least 3 “wives” LOL

around the country SEVEN MILLION signatures were collected and sent to Washington demanding that the Mormon polygamist not be “seated”

He wasn’t...

in Utah the scramble was on to find a guy who only had one wife and could be a senator..

Years after the “proclamation”

:)

It’s past time for a constitutional amendment. The people are overwhelmingly against gay marriage. It’s being forced on us by the Democrats and the judiciary.

The Mormon church and most Mormons used to be conservative rock ribbed Republicans 30-40 years ago. This has been wearing down for years. They are pretty squishy these days. As squishy as Mitt Romney and their Governor Huntsman who was even more squishy liberal

The Evolution of the Gay Mantra….

1970′s “Live and let live.”

1980′s “Tolerance! Tolerance!”

1990′s “Don’t shove your values down my throat!”

2000′s “We expect you to change your lives to honor our lifestyle; we have no tolerance for your beliefs. We’re going to shove our values down your throat.”

2010′s “…and if that doesn’t work, we’re going to get the government to bully you into submission.”

2013 It’s fine if you have beliefs as long as you keep them to yourselves – in other words, you’d better violate your conscience always or else.

2016 Discrimination against all social conservatives is now legal – because they’re just bigots and deserve it.

2017 Hiring any social conservative to a higher education or K-12 institution is illegal since it violates diversity for gays.

2018 Social conservative businesses must be forced to close down because they are like Jim Crow.

2019 Special ghetto areas implemented where social conservatives are allowed to live – they can still tell each other their beliefs since we greatly respect freedom of speech as laid out in the 1st Amendment.

2020 – Children of social conservatives must be taken away from them because what happens if one develops a homosexuality problem and the parents do not think it is normal? Child abuse is unacceptable in our progressive and diverse society.

It’s past time for a constitutional amendment. The people are overwhelmingly against gay marriage.

What on earth makes you say that? Not the polls, certainly. There are several states still opposed, but the majority of Americans combined are actually in favor of this.

We could have had our amendment as late as 2004, but it would never be ratified by enough states today. That option is lost to us. We must carve out as many exemptions and religious protections as we can before this case gets to SCOTUS and is applied nationwide.
