Same-sex couples in Utah getting marriage licenses
FOX 10 ^ | 12/20/2013 | Brady McCombs

A county clerk's office in Utah is issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, just hours after a federal judge struck down Utah's ban on gay marriages.

Salt Lake County Deputy Clerk Dahnelle Burton-Lee says the district attorney authorized her office to begin issuing the marriage licenses Friday.

She couldn't immediately say how many licenses have been issued so far.

U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby ruled that a law passed by voters in 2004 violates gay and lesbian couples' rights to due process and equal protection under the 14th Amendment.

Shelby said the state failed to show that allowing same-sex marriages would affect opposite-sex marriages in any way.

The Utah attorney general's office says it plans to issue a statement on the ruling later.

The decision marks an ongoing nationwide shift toward allowing gay marriage.

DISGUSTING, unnatural and sinful. What on EARTH sends a boy/man to another boy/man? What sickness?

“The decision marks an ongoing nationwide shift toward allowing gay marriage.”

No, the decision marks another example of legislating from the bench and overturning the people’s will.

Bingo. This is NOT a popular movement, but is solely the forced implementation of an agenda by the political class.

The Mormons have gone major “tolerant” in the last year.

Only observant Catholics will fight through to the end.

So, they get their soiled foot in the door, and nothing will dislodge it.

judges should not make law, the state government should simply refuse to honor the decision

Only? Sorry, Evangelical Christians have been on the front line more than Catholics.

WE vote for laws that are thrown out by appointed judges and the powers that be commit crime after crime and are not called to account-indeed they prosper.

A reckoning is coming and the longer it takes getting here the harder it will be.

More than most mainstream Catholics, I'll grant that. But all of us true Christians will become Catholic in the end :) some won't like to hear that

Ever since the dawn of the Internet the Mormons lost their insular, protected little world. They have been BLEEDING Mormons for years now and have had to become "tolerant," allowing blacks and even Indians into their conclaves. They are still losing to the REAL world of Jesus Christ.

I suppose it comes to a shock to Mormons that Jesus and Lucifer were NOT brothers, as the Mormons believe.
It never hurts to know the truth about Jesus.

The Catholic Church is the oldest living and continuous institution on the planet in all its history. It will survive the Mormons. If it can survive Islam and Hollywood it can survive anything

I like how the article calls it simply a ‘law.’ I mean we are talking about the Utah constitutional amendment here, right?

I wonder if this one goes to the SC if the will interpret it like CA’s prop. 8 or if this is the end of state marriage amendments everywhere.

same gender people can NOT reproduce....

they want to call what they do as "natural" but in the same breath, they are using unnatural means to obtain children....

I beg every freeper to use whatever influence they have to prevent any of their offspring or other relatives or friends or neighbors from giving away babies to homosexuals....do not donate sperm...do not donate ova....do not be a breeder for them....
