Queer how Americans have become so uncharacteristically submissive, so passively compliant to a government that rules by diktat and places itself above a law they created for the serfs.

I addressed this on another thread about this very subject. It's worth repeating:

When it comes to ObamaCare, there's a reason why most Americans aren't up in arms over it: Americans don't understand the health care system, and they never did.

From a purely economic standpoint, ObamaCare is nothing more than a giant leap forward (or backward, depending on how you look at it) in a health care system that has been fatally flawed for decades. Even something as simple as the term "your doctor" hasn't been relevant for years. "Your doctor" doesn't work for you -- he or she works for the insurance company that pays the bills.

It's hard to criticize people for allowing their government to trample on their rights when they already surrendered those rights decades ago. Once you had a third-party payment system in place as the norm, the whole idea of liberty and individual rights went right out the window.

People rise up in anger when they are deprived of things they actually understand (or at least think they do). That's how you end up with a nation where people don't give a sh!t about ObamaCare but will risk life and limb in a mass of humanity at a Black Friday store opening on Thanksgiving night.

Are insurance companies supposed to write these non-existent policies and sell them to millions of Americans in the next ten days?

Impossible. It’s like putting a tire patch on the hole in the Titanic

I won't enroll either but if pushed to the wall, I'll pay the fine.

In a recent interview Obama declined to rule out prison for refuseniks and at this stage in my life I'm not entirely sure I could survive prison.

Seems to be, the environmentalist wing of the fanatical liberal brigade should be outraged at the paper that was wasted in crafting Obamacare. There should have been only 1 page that says, “it is now the law of the land that there shall be a mandate called the Affordable Care Act. This law shall be determined by the President at a later date and depending on his popularity.”

The real goal is to retain the Dem voting block to save Mary Landrieu re-election types.

“Pledge to vote Democrat and exemptions abound.”

If we had not impeached Clinton over lying about sex we could have started to make a political case for starting impeachment hearings for the continued violation of the law. Thanks to our over-reach back then we can’t do that now.

Not saying it was wrong to do it then but it certainly makes it a lot harder now to utilize that step.

Oh, so now ObamaCare is happy to promote all those sleazy, “substandard policies” they were attacking a few weeks ago when millions of these catastrophic coverage plans were being canceled. In other words, they were lying about that too. Pathetic.

They’ve just rearranged the deck chairs on Obama’s Titanic, appointing Max Baucus as ambassador to China so that the Dem gov of Montana can appoint a Dem to his seat to give the Dems a leg up on that open seat next year. That will also allow Mary Landrieu to take Baucus’s place as chairman of the Senate Energy Committee, so the oil company money will flow into her campaign to save her LA Senate seat next year.

They are a bunch of bass turds, but they sure know how to keep power, something generations of GOP politicians have never learned.

" Obama heads to Hawaii on Friday for a two-week vacation but told his staff that he expects frequent updates."

Awwww.......Poor baby. Has to interrupt his well earned two week vacation. Meanwhile, millions have lost their health insurance directly because of his policies. There will be dead citizens because of his law, due to lack of proper health care. It's more important, though, that Obama gets the proper press coverage of his "toned body on the Hawaiian beaches".

"Seems we are back to where it was before the law was passed?"

Not at all. Millions of citizena have lost their chosen health insurance, and have no option even with this but to choose a "catastrophic" plan. These plans require very large deductables, and limited doctor and hospital choices. They face thousands of dollars in additional charges. Just imagine the people with cancer, or other serious diseases and injuries that now must change hospitals, change doctors, change medicines, and pay thousands of dollars more. How many do you think will die?

The inability to implement the law as written
proves that it shouldn’t have been written in the first place -

it’s obviously unworkable.

No.
The following year lather, rinse and repeat until the nightmare gets repealed; in the meantime I'll do what's needed to stay out of hoosgow it's all.

Look, the gloves are coming off and the façade of freedom is steadily vanishing. The appellation of "soft" as per Levin, won't even apply to this tyranny anymore.
This is simply not the hill I choose to die on.

Laz, I recently retired and I’m not eligible for Medicare for a few years. The COBRA premium was $378 per month and I opted not to burn through my cash. I made too much to go the VA route and so my first doctor visit here in God’s country (TX) cost me $125. That I can handle and if worse come to worst I’ll just die without burdening the family with a monster critical care bill to pay-off.

I haven’t signed-up, wont sign-up, and the rat bastard can just fiddle while his dream burns to the ground.

So if we want to keep our $6,000 ambulance ride, we don't get to keep it? That's going to break the poor folks in the medical-insurance industry. Looks like many will be filing pro se bankruptcies.

Can’t you go straight to an agent?

I never went on a site - my agent just got me a new plan.
