Bachmann, King and Gohmert tour Egypt, Lebanon and Libya (Tea Party)
Washington Post ^ | December 19, 2013 | Al Kamen

Yet a trip this week by tea party Republican Reps. Michele Bachmann, Steve King and Louie Gohmert has been quite hush-hush, even though they went to iffy places like Beirut, Cairo and even to Tripoli — where the U.S. embassy last week issued a “warning” notice “strongly advis(ing) against all but essential travel to Tripoli and against all travel . . outside Tripoli because of ongoing instability and violence.”

And, as best we can figure, they even flew commercial, not only to the region but even within the region. They even went to embassy briefings and such. So this is hardly a boondoggle. Still, their offices declined to give out any information on the trip as it progressed.

Fortunately, local media and the BBC were on the spot, so everyone in the Middle East knew just where they were.

Now, I bet the reception in Egypt is a lot more receptive than when idiots McCain & Graham went there.

God Bless the U.S. and those who love it.

I hope those GOP folks got all their shots.
I lived in the middle east and decided that those children who survive to adulthood--NOTHING short of a silver bullet will kill them.

I would be more concerned about the bullets & explosives. There are plenty of those there too.

But, yes that is always an issue.

And Obozo has made enemies of many normally friendly countries in the ME.

I lived in a small community in Saudi Arabia and it was the most QUIET place I had ever lived or been to. NOTHING happened EVER. It was a big deal when someone got a hangnail or a cold. We traveled over the Kingdom and ONLY Riyadh was SLIGHTLY less quiet. Since Riyadh is the capital of the country that was to be expected.

While I was over there and other places in Europe I was surprised that no one really cared about what happened in the USA, what we thought or what we were doing. I think WE think that we are far more important to the world than we actually are. That's the media.
Truth be known, folks in other countries have their own lives to deal with and don't give a rat's patootie what we are doing.

Makes sense to me.

But for a group of Congressmen to go to Egypt and tell them they support the overthrow of Obozo’s buddies the Muslim Brotherhood, it is amazing.

But I read the idiot comment responses to the WaPo article. But remember they are coming from Washington DC, the seat of US ComDem Insanity.

I was previously aware that the Egyptians knew that the citizens of the US supported Egypt in the overthrow of Morsi. Many of the better informed US citizens fully understand why Obozo MUST GO!

God Bless the U.S. and those who love it. -TexasFossil In addition to their trip to Egypt, Ms. Bachmann, Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Robert Pittenger (R-NC), and Steve King (R-IA) also had an appointment in Vienna and met with Elizabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff in Austria having heard about Elisabeth’s legal challenge for free speech.

I don't know if the people of Egypt support the US or not. Their government is EXTREMELY restrictive and has the people in a HARD lock on their short hairs. THEIR media is TOTALLY controlled by the current Egyptian junta. I wouldn't believe ANYthing they say.

There is a saying in the middle east. The Arabs consider TRUTH like a precious jewel...to be HIDDEN all the time and ONLY brought out into the light under extreme duress. I lived in the middle east for FIVE years. I know what I am talking about. The Egyptians are ARABS and Muslims. They have a different outlook on...oh, everything.

From the Internet:
The President of the Arab Republic of Egypt (Arabic: رئيس جمهورية مصر العربية‎) is the head of state of Egypt. Under the Constitution of Egypt, the president is also the supreme commander of the armed forces and head of the executive branch of the Egyptian government. The position is currently vacant as of 3 July 2013. The most recent holder of the office was Mohamed Morsi, the first democratically elected president of Egypt, who was deposed on that date by the Egyptian military. Presidential powers are held by the head of the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt, currently Adly Mansour.

By the way, the word for Egypt used by the EGYPTIANS, who speak Arabic, of course, is "misr" or مصر. It reads from right to left. I learned to speak and write it a little.

It is not important if the People of Egypt “support” the US or not.

The important thing is for the US to again command respect.

Can we Trust the Egyptian leadership? That is not clear.

But I applaud the Egyptian people for forcing a traitorous evil man like Morsi from power. A despot that Obozo and much of the Congress openly supported.

We have seen these efforts many times before, most fail, unfortunately. A very good example of that is in Iran. They came close to throwing their Mullah dictators out, but failed. And many good people lost their lives.

Egypt “appears” at this point to have succeeded. Lets pray that they do.

Yes, they are muslims. Or at least a large percentage of them are. But their civilization is much older than Islam. But in Iran, the Persian culture is much older than Islam too.
