Yes. Free speech needs to go both ways.
If a gay male star of another TV show were to say in an interview, say with Out or Advocate, “I don’t get the whole vagina thing! What is up with those? Give me a good penis and balls every day, ha ha ha ha!”
Would he be fired by his network, or would people cover their mouths in mock shock and laugh delightedly? You KNOW you know the answer.
If it’s OK to do whatever rant you want against the Tea Party and/or conservatives without consequences, the same should be true for opinions against gays.
Exactly. And this should be said on all media today. Of course a&e has a legal right to fire whom they want. But it needs to be broadcast that this is against the concept of free speech.
What a&e is saying is that hate speech against some groups is ok because a&e is not in favor of nasty tea party folk, but gays are protected.

It would be nice if the LGBT activists were really concerned about “hate” and “intolerance” but they are not.
They are incrementally moving us towards a society where people who think like Mr. Robertson does will be second class citizens with the status of black people in the “Jim Crow” South or dare I say it, Jews in 1930’s Germany.
There laws were passed taking away Jews property, businesses, denying them employment etc. etc.
Except, I would wager that the contract is with the family and not just a single entity. With that said, firing one fires them all and A&E has voided the contract which I would wager is a violation of the terms on their part.
By the end of the week, we will know all the details. Then we can make learned assumptions instead of just assumptions.

Another point is that this is A&E. I mean it’s like throwing red dripping meat into a crocodile pit and being scandalized that the crocs start eating. I bet this duck dude isn’t shocked, he had to know who he was dealing with for years.
