Increased Military Spending On The Back Of DISABLED Military Retirees?
Political Outcast ^ | 18 Dec 13 | Mark Horne

The Ryan budget deal keeps getting better and better.

And by “better,” I mean much worse.

When I wrote about the cut for military retirees, I mentioned the possibility that this might be the only income some of them have.

The original sequestration had wonderful priorities in exempting personnel. Ryan is sacrificing those who have already served for the sake of more war power abroad. We already have a military that spends as the next ten nations combined. Why take away from military retirees (some of whom are completely dependent on that income exclusively) to feed an institution that loses trillions of dollars and can’t pass an audit?

At that time, I forgot to even consider disabled military retirees.

Just so we don’t get hysterical about this, there are some disabled military retirees who are doing quite well. The “disabled” classification is broader than many people realize and it can provide huge advantages for getting work as government contractors who want to say they are hiring a “disabled” person.

But there are also people who are seriously disabled, perhaps even resulting from injuries in the line of duty, who have nothing but their military retirement to rely upon.

Is it right to save the rest of the military from “drastic cuts,” as Ryan argues, by cutting into their retirement?

The Washington Free Beacon reports,

A provision cutting the pensions of military retirees in the bipartisan budget deal that the Senate will vote on this week does not exempt disabled veterans, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

Disabled retirees were previously thought to be exempt from the changes to military retiree pay, which could cost servicemembers up to $124,000 over a 20-year period.

It stuns me that this jerk was almost Vice President. Thank God we dodge that bullet. He is trash. Collecting Social Security most of his life and then going to college due to Daddy dying for free and then going into Congress to do crap like this. I literally hate him right now. THANK GOD VOTERS KICKED HIM TO THE CURB! I voted for him UNFORTUNATELY!

Incredibly, only 12 years after 911,
US taxpayer money went to al Qaeda to give
them MANPADs, SAMs, and sarin.

the EXEMPT US Congress has declared by these
actions that they HATE and are against
the American people and their families.

Not to make light of what you all have said, don’t forget Patty Murry and the Dems share responsibility. All should suffer.

Does the government of The United States Of America need that few dollars from my retired pay to balance the budget? To save the country? To end poverty? Or will the few dollars from my retired pay just be used to buy more Democrat votes? I don’t recall anyone in my military training saying, “We only save the Republicans.” No one told me that there was a f**king parentheses after every American’s name with a D or an R in it. And they damn sure never told me, “ We only fight and kill and die for the Republicans”. But that’s how the Democrats see the retired Veterans. They think they can just throw us to the lions to satisfy their base. I’ve got some bad news for you Patty and Chuck and Harry and Paul. Us old retired Veterans f**king eat lions for lunch.

The Democrats think this only affects a bunch of old guys. It affects women and children, too. Veterans have families.

Oh, those Unintended Consequences. Ladies: remember all those lawsuits in the 80s that determined that a Soldier’s retirement belonged to him AND HIS EX-WIFE? That’s right, Patty Murray and the Democrats just screwed you out of some good money, too. Be sure to thank them. Their discrimination isn’t really as discriminatory as they thought.

There’s a trend of cutting retiree pay to increase spending on current employees in all levels of government. It’s a shame, especially when so many employees of contractors now hate men of prior enlisted service.

Definitely the latter. The money will be used to allow illegal aliens to continue to claim tax credits for children who have never set foot in the U.S.

Paul Ryan hates the military and veterans nearly as much as Willard does...

I say nearly because while Willard is a TWO Time draft dodger and refused to serve our country...

Ryan at least never dishonored himself like Willard did...

Would he though if there had still been a draft ???

While I am also disappointed, as you are, all I want is equity. Do you suppose that “they” (”those guys”, “them”, et al.) could find a couple of those dollars to be saved in the budget currently going to:
1) Illegal immigrants
2) Welfare recipients
3) Pet (Local) Projects (brings to mind Boston Tunnel, Solyndra, Bridges to nowhere, etc.)
4) Vacations by POTUS and entourage
5) Money saved by Flossing ones teeth

I believe that Billary said something about “Loathing the Military”, this guy has taken that to a new level.

STSCS(SS), USN, Ret.

Wish You Well, Sir.
