Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Wednesday that his office found 17 non-citizens illegally cast ballots in the 2012 presidential election -- and has referred the case for possible prosecution.
The alleged crime would be a notable case of voter fraud in a key swing state. By law, only American citizens are allowed the privilege of casting ballots for the nation's leaders.
Ohio officials say that did not stop some from getting around the system.
"I have a responsibility to uphold election law, and under both federal and state law you must be a citizen to vote," said Husted, a Republican who has aggressively tried to investigate voter fraud cases in his state.

As bad as it is, it is nothing compared to the 257,000 dead people who were still listed as active voters. Obama got 2,827,710 votes while Romney got 2,661,433.
Had a dumbarse liberal tell me recently that there was no voter fraud, and that stories of such are all propaganda created by far-right Faux News.
This is the big fear with amnesty. Millions of legalized illegals will register to vote via democrat get-out-the-vote groups or motor-voter or other means. And the newly legalized will not care a wit about the law that says one must be a citizen to vote.
And of course, they will vote democrat.
But the bad news is that their votes will not be reversed if their fraud is discovered after the election, because no one can know for sure how they voted.
THEREFORE, their voter registrations must be flagged and challenged BEFORE the election. But that is very hard to do. One simple way is to have access to all non-citizen residents database. When the illegals are legalized, they will be registered as such via DHS. Those registrations need to be matched against voter rolls.
But of course Obama/Holder will not allow access to DHS data on illegals granted amnesty.
Prepare then for millions of illegal votes by non-citizens to cancel your legitimate vote.
The democrats are playing for keeps and the establishment republicans are helping them.

This is retail vote fraud, and while I agree that it should be punished harshly, it’s effect on the election is negligible.
If fat greater importance is the wholesale vote fraud being perpetrated in the inner cities, where thousands upon thousands of votes are manufactured, swinging entire states.
