He decided to start Community College rather than Virginia Tech and work full time. The company will help him with his school and has quite a few advancement opportunities. I am very proud of him.

Congrats; to you and him.

It’s “cairn,” not “carin.”

We just had a local dog place very high in a national obedience championship in VA recently.

Bright little sucker.

I’ve been trying to figure out how that pic relates to the story. The woman is not a millennial. Is she supposed to be a parent of one? Just don’t get it.

They want to have fun, and don’t care much about money.”

Had this same discussion with my grandson. At least he does have a full-time job but could have been working in the oil patch making about 5 times as much. Tried to convince him to try it for at least two years, work as many hours as he physically could, save/invest his money wisely and then move on if he couldn’t take it any more. His response was that if he did this he would have no life for two years. Their age group just doesn’t seem capable of thinking about much beyond right now.

This could be seen coming from way back.

In the 1950s and 1960s, college students graduated into poverty. But no debt. As soon as they landed a job, their income, after taxes, was for them. This meant they could timetable getting married, having children, buying a home on mortgage, and they were pretty well set.

So what changed?

To start with, student loans, which meant that students graduated in poverty, but also debt. Before they could begin the usual timetable, they had to pay back their loans, which set them back a few years at first, then with rising tuition, as long as a decade, to get to that desired point of penny-less, but without debt.

Then housing started to inflate. When it reached the breaking point, homes cost perhaps three times what they were worth, but the government encouraged speculation to keep driving home prices higher and higher.

Jimmy Carter’s stupidity and greed really accelerated things with his double digit inflation. He wanted to spend more and more money, but FED chairman Volker refused to let him, so kept raising interest rates to match him. If today’s FED chairman did the same to Obama, interest rates would easily be in the triple digits. Inflation from 300-1000%.

In any event, today, the idea of getting married, starting a family, and getting a home are pretty much shot, at least for those who are responsible and honorable. So when you look at all these basement dwellers, a large percentage of them are people who do not want to make children outside of marriage, and abandon them, and do not want to harm others.

But, I guess the government prefers scoundrels, orphans, dependents, miserable, thieving people who live from government handout to government handout. They asked for it, they *forced* it on America, so this is what they’ve got.

And golly gee, the businessmen who were all in favor of it then, are complaining now, that the people they screwed over are no longer wealthy enough to continue to be screwed over. Instead they have joined with their parents to batten the hatches, live frugal lives, live with minimal credit, no children or spouses, so that they can at least live decent lives for themselves, without hurting other people.

The big hope now for such people is that they can inherit their parents home, and in their 30’s, just maybe might be able to move a spouse in there, praying they have enough strength and money to raise children just above the level of poverty.

All thanks to a government that wanted to be all things to all people, and did not understand that you cannot spend money you do not have without eventually suffering the consequences.

By then, most of the scoundrels responsible will be dead; but hopefully their graves will be cesspits, and their offspring will renounce them. And they will be written off in the history books as unremarkable scoundrels who deserve to be forgotten.

He knows who trained his dog, and the history. He just uses it to freak out his partner. Haven’t been to the trainer in a few years so they may act different now. The Shepard was a drug dog,not a full blown police dog (no attack command) so it is funny, and doesn’t mean the dog is ruined

2. Really... NO jobs? Not even entry-level ones? Even in the disaster of the Obama economy, I'm not buying that one.

My wife is looking for a job. She's seeing $13/hr jobs that require a 4-year degree AND experience. OTOH, my 16 year-old daughter just started working at Wendy's. Six dollars of difference between an experienced Baccalaureate and a junior in high school flipping burgers is beyond ridiculous. No wonder so many college loans are being defaulted on.

Townhall sure loves to spew crap!

Yep, it ended and became a depression, as far as jobs are concerned.
