No candidate is perfect. But here are some of the things that would be on MY list if I could design my perfect candidate for office.
Candidates should believe:
• Taxes should he lowered whenever possible and never raised unless emergency funds are needed to repel an invading army.
• The federal budget should be balanced ASAP and then stay that way.
• The federal government should not take on new debt.
• The federal income tax is an abomination and should be ended.
• A return to the gold standard should take place ASAP.
• The U.S.A. is and always has been a Christian nation. Its laws should reflect that.
• Anti-sodomy laws should be revived and enforced.
• Abortion should be banned. Period. Violators should be convicted of first-degree murder and face the appropriate penalties.
• Virtually all “social” programs passed since the Progressive era in the early 1900s are unconstitutional and should be ended.
• That includes Obamacare.
• Gun rights are absolute. There should be no laws dealing with who can and cannot own guns and what kind people can own.
• There should be no federal environmental laws.
• The federal government should have nothing to do with education.
• The borders should be sealed tight.
• All illegals should be deported ASAP. No exceptions.
• A constitutional amendment banning Sharia law should be passed ASAP.
• A special one-time tax of $10.3 billion should be levied on General Motors and the UAW. They should be given 30 days to pay back the taxpayers. Failure to pay should make the leadership of those organizations subject to prosecution.
• Obama should be impeached and prosecuted.
• All future presidential candidates should be vetted to be sure they are eligible to serve.
• The U.S. should leave the UN, GATT, OECD and all other sovereignty-violating organizations ASAP.
• Iran’s nuclear program should be destroyed ASAP, even if that means using tactical nukes.
• The federal minimum wage should be abolished.
• All other federal laws regarding wages and employment should be repealed.
• No local law-enforcement agency should be required to enforce unconstitutional laws.

I like the list. I would add something about Voter ID and election reform.
The Sothern Poverty Law Center and the ACLU should be outlawed ASAP
Simply adhering to the spirit and letter of our Constitution should take care of most of the issues we face.
I want the polar opposite of Lindsey Graham.
Such a candidate would be nearly perfect.
A Republican who can answer the gotcha abortion question!
Cut spending.
Pay down the debt.
That’s the two biggest things that most Americans can agree on, too.
All National Holidays return to orignal names and dates that they wer in 1950.

You’ve certainly made some good points. Perhaps the one listed above could be changed to ban Islam altogether since it is not compatible with our Constitution.

No wonder so many liberals get elected by default. Kamikaze Conservatives don't have a clue about how to defeat liberals, so that is who ends up governing us.

A gold standard would be difficult to maintain with such a large economy. Bi-metallic standard? It was once floated as an idea. Why not throw silver in there.
