Up here in the not so frigid north we actually have a real conservative network (The Sun News Network).

They have the best voice for conservatism In North America - Ezra Levant

Here is a short segment from last night.

What-is-a-human-right?

These days it is simple. A “human right” is whatever I can force you to buy for me.

There are only two kinds of rights, natural and civil. Natural rights come from God or nature. Civil rights come from man, through law.

Human rights is a fee-good term. It is amorphous and means nothing.

Hadn’t heard of Ezra Levant before. Good intro. A pleasure to listen to.

“Did you watch the video???”

Yes, I did. And it’s a babbling mish-mash. The right to free speech is not a human right. It is a civil right.

If by human right, he means a right granted at birth, that is a natural right, such as the rights to life, liberty and property.

By using the term human rights, it confuses where the rights come from.

There could be a right not to be offended, but that would need to be established through law, since it is not natural, and would thus be a civil right.

Again there are only two types, natural and civil, from nature or man.

Speech is a natural right. I can speak any time I want. It doesn't matter what the law is.

There is an easy way to determine if a right is natural or not. If you can do it on a deserted island with no other people around then its a natural right.

You’re right. Bad example. Speech is a natural right PROTECTED by civil law.

A better example would be trial by jury, a civil right created by man.

That’s correct. And any so-called right that requires the labor of others in not a right at all. Its akin to slavery.

That’s right -

there is no “right” that requires an involuntary cost to another person.

The network looks interesting. Fox only seems conservative in contrast, by trying (sometimes successfully) to be centrist and objective.
