University sends email to alumni equating the tea party with the KKK

A public university sent an email to alumni highlighting the esteemed research of one of its professors — research that notes many similarities between the old Ku Klux Klan and its modern-day equivalent, the tea party.

The University of Washington’s email to alumni asked the question four separate times: “Is The Tea Party like the Ku Klux Klan?” Christopher Parker, a UW political science professor, argues in a new book that there are major similarities. The book is titled “Change They Can’t Believe In: The Tea Party and Reactionary Politics in Contemporary America.”

“In this commentary from Professor Christopher Parker he argues that recent research shows racism is a strong indicator of Tea Party support,” said the email, which plugs Parker’s book.

One big difference: the Klu Klux Klan was the militia arm of the Democratic Party.

standard gauge. But I should have known - the email is just a fictional story after searching about it just now!

No, there won't. Stop blowing hot air. I've heard the same nonsense for years now from conservative. "If you cross this line, there will be war." to "Ok, you've crossed that line, but if you cross THIS line, there there will really be war" to "Now you've gone and done it. Cross THIS line and I guarantee there will be war" to the present.

Civil war should have happened in Obama's first term, if not sooner. The US is hosed.

I want to ask a question. I hear pundits, media, educates …. all. They disparage the Tea Party…name calling,.. I never hear an enumeration of what the Tea Party members have done to deserve this attachment. Could anyone enlighten me?

Can you get more reactionary than longing for an emperor/ strongman who “camst among us?” Or is that so primitive a trophism that it predates civilization altogether?

Except for the many black leaders in the Tea Party movement.

The left are fascists truly worse than the KKK, more like Nazi’s who just realize they can’t get away with doing what the Nazi’s did just yet.

Yawn.

“The Tea Party is the Taliban.”
“The Tea Party are the modern KKK.”
“The Tea Party would oppose civil rights for minorities.”

You would think after a few years they would come up with something new

“Consider the Tea Party,” wrote Parker. “Similar to the Klan, white, middle- class, middle-aged, Protestant men dominate the Tea Party’s ranks.”

As has been pointed out above the KKK was strictly democrat organization.

It may have been different in the past, but when I think of a Klansman (all 3000 of them in the USA!) in the past 50 years or so I think of not a "middle-class" white guy, but an uneducated lower class punk.

This "professor" is a creep.

"Hitler brushed his teeth every day, much like the modern day Tea-Partiers, etc."

Yeah, gotta love that kind of critical, logical reasoning.

“Consider the Tea Party,” wrote Parker. “Similar to the Klan, white, middle- class, middle-aged, Protestant men dominate the Tea Party’s ranks.”

How does this Prof. Parker come to his bigoted and stereotypical conclusion? Surely not by attending Tea Party events. The majority of the people seen at Tea Party events tend to be women. And it's not uncommon to see black, Hispanic and even Asian Tea Party people as well.

In fact, a black man attending a Tea Party event in Missouri a few years ago was assaulted by white male SEIU-affiliated counter-protesting thugs. Could the attack have been racially motivated, just like the KKK might do?

This is not the first time that the Left has, without any logical basis, tried to link the Tea Party movement to the KKK. Just this summer, Democrat far-left Congressman Allan Grayson of Florida issued a fund-raising pamphlet depicting Klansmen burning a cross, with the burning cross serving as the letter "t" in "Tea Party."

Apparently, the Tea Party's potential political clout is feared by many far leftists. If that weren't the case, we wouldn't see them coming out with these inane comparisons of the Tea Party movement to the KKK.

Also, the professor's tarring Tea Party people as uneducated and unaccomplished, though hardly unexpected considering its source in the snobby ivory tower of academia, is not based in fact at all. The intuitive guess here is that Tea Party people as a group have better IQs and accomplishment levels than do Democratic voters, which is all the more reason for the lefties to be uptight.
