Wifey and I are set to cruise thru there next fall! health willing, of course.

Should be interesting to get the Captain’s instructions in case of conflict in the vicinity. Geneva rules will apply, I’m sure.

and Yes, it is a shame about the F-22.

Imagine the pantheon of gods that are deployed to the area. I’m wondering if Mars, being the war god, is getting excited.

That converted Russian jump carrier is actually on sea trials now and the Chicoms showed some pics of it maneuvering on CCTV9 just last night. Those jets do have enough horsepower to waddle off the jump deck. But there is no catapult, the planes don’t look to have tail hooks, and the deck doesn’t appear to have arresting gear. The planes don’t look to be jump jets so it seems like they are one-trick ponies. If the Chicoms actually try to “flex” this could all get pretty funny before anybody gets hurt.

It starts with a tributary state relationship, and the imposition of puppet rulers and ends with an invasion, when the puppet ruler decides he's not China's plaything.

You got it right. This is a primary reason for conflicts between China and Japan going back many hundreds of years. China continually demanding tribute from Korea, and Japan intervening against China. (Japan also sought tribute from Korea.) China also wanted Japan as a tributary state, but Japan resisted. The nations who resisted, continued as independent states. China has never given up on swallowing Korea, Japan, Vietnam, etc.

Actually China does have a somewhat plausible claim to Okinawa. The kings of the Ryukyu Islands pledged loyalty to BOTH the Japanese and Chinese Emperors historically, playing them both off against one another. That’s the basis for the historic claim by both countries to Okinawa. In reality, the islands were self governing until relatively recently.

At bottom, just about every country has a plausible claim to large chunks of land in neighboring countries. The Austronesian people of the Malay archipelago (Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia) have a claim to southern China, from which their ancestors were turfed thousands of years ago.

No doubt the Communist Chinese military are being shown videos of gay days being celebrated in the Pentagon, with leaders like Pelosi and Obama grinning..

Get a load this drunken chicken coop...

The Communist Chinese must be rolling on the floor...

Who are those in D.C. going to get to fight and die for them in a big real war?

Are they going to round up millions of illegal aliens and force them into the army? They'd have better luck juggling chain saws.

These a$$holes can't even protect or defend our own borders for cripes sake.

I envy you. Here’s to you doing just that.

Yes, Geneva rules are something our enemies never seem to be quite in touch with. We’re expected to comply though. We’re so thoughtful.

Thanks for the note of agreement on the F-22.

This is NOT going to end well. It won't take much for a Japan Airlines or All-Nippon Airways airliner flying between Tokyo/Osaka and Taipei to get fired upon by an air-to-air missile from a Chinese fighter at the rate things are going....
