Senate Republicans Can Retaliate. Will They?
Red State ^ | 21 Nov 13 | Daniel Horowitz

There is one simple thing Republicans can do to retaliate. They can start by ending the Democrat super-majority on legislative issues. They can easily pledge to filibuster every piece of legislation and deny all requests for unanimous consent until the rules change is overturned.

How would Harry Reid respond to a complete shutdown of the Senate? Would he abolish the filibuster even for legislation? Let him try. But for now, he has nothing to fear from just eliminating the filibuster on judges because he knows Republicans will not retaliate. Reid knows that there is not a single issue where McCain, Corker, Graham, and Alexander will now withhold support simply because they were stiffed with the nuclear option.

Just an hour after Reid blew up the Senate, Republicans rewarded him by not objecting to the first unanimous consent.

It is, of course just this simple. We are watching the end of our republic. The methods to resist are plain and simple. Demand quorum counts. Filibuster everything. Shut them down. This doesn't require approval from rino leadership. A single senator with a spine of steel could do this. It's literally a fight for America. Our forefathers pledged their lives, fortunes and their sacred honors. What say you, Cruz, Paul, Rubio, Scott, Lee, Ect.? There are millions out here who want to see somebody fight like America depends on it, because it does. Filibuster while you can. Ask for us to rally. Lead! We will follow! When government becomes tyranny, resistance becomes duty!

Nope. They’re too cowardly. They’re afraid they’d be called racist or something. McCain will try to make Republicans be nice and just shut up.

If not, we can block anything they have in the House. Boehner can cry all her wants. We have enough clout among the caucus to prevent crap like ENDA coming up.

I think the nuclear option is great news for us. And let’s double down on it when it’s our turn and include supreme court nominees.

This is good news for our side. Sooner or later we will get back the presidency and the Senate. Then step back, Folks.

I think that is what the Dems want.
0bama set the table by declaring the Senate is not working, and the Republicans are responsible.

0bama wants to run against a do nothing Senate, paint Republicans as the source of everyone’s pain

The House can shut everything down. They should go into overdrive today! The House can suck the wind out of the dem sails. Why aren’t they holding hearings into every dirty dem deal, tying up the administration with appearances. They should call it operation Scooter!

I’m actually wary of this - the Democrats are in meltdown right now - the last thing the Republicans should do is try something that will draw attention away, and let the Dems pull the “intransigent Republicans” card.

Their wives want to get invited to the next DC cocktail party.

I kid you not - this is probably one of the most powerful influences in the world today.

The best thing the Republicans can do at this point is not past raising the debt ceiling and then let the Democrats circumvent the law-again.

Republicans should start campaigning hard now against the rats in the red states.

Force the rats to spend money. Bankrupt their coffers. That was the model Reagan used against the Soviets. It works.
