MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The family of a suspected thief is lashing out after their son was shot during an armed robbery.
Relatives of Adric White, 18, believe the Good Samaritan who opened fire should have “just left the store.”
“If his (the customer) life was not in danger, if no one had a gun up to him, if no one pointed a gun at him - what gives him the right to think that it's okay to just shoot someone?” said the relative. “You should have just left the store and went wherever you had to go in your car or whatever.”

Sounds like more members of this family need shooting.
“What gives him the right”?? Well, for one, the laws of the State of Alabama.
Their family member was committing an armed robbery with a gun against someone’s head, he gets shot, and they feel that the guy who shot their kid should have just minded his own business and left their kid alone to finish his armed robbery.
I’d wager a lot of money that they’ll try to sue the good samaritan for restraint of trade.
I just don’t believe that this kind of stupid exists in our society.
So I'm wondering why the family doesn't think the perp had an obligation to put down the gun and leave the store.
Other than an entitlement mentality . . .

They’re sociopaths, pure and simple. They simply do not care about anyone else. Hopefully the laws of Alabama protect the samaritan from civil suits as well as criminal prosecution.
That young man needed killing. The streets are now a little bit safer.

Wonder if the relative mentioned he was a good boy who was just about to turn his life around, was going back to school, etc, etc.

What the family SHOULD have said:
“We are grateful that the good samaritan showed restraint and only fired once. Adric needs serious help to correct his behavior. We do not condone, in the strongest possible terms, robbery or crime of any kind and apologize to the store clerk that Adric was victimizing. We hope that Adric’s time in the hospital and in prison will set him on the path of responsibility.”
What the family said, condensed for brevity:
“HOW DARE YOU shoot our kid while he was committing a violent felony!! Mind your own damn business!”
