Democrats in Congress are recruiting a varsity squad of sports officials to help make the case for action on climate change.

Rep. Henry Waxman of California and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island are slated to meet Thursday with officials from most of the country’s major sports leagues, including Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League and the National Football League.

They will discuss “the effects of climate change on sporting activities and the work these organizations are doing to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions,” according to a statement.

Hockey, basketball and football players talking to the unwashed masses about climate science. ROTFLMAO! I guess the Obama regime lost the scientists on this fiasco. I don’t listen to anyone but jockeys when it comes to global warming.

Call Art Rooney. He and the Steelers did so well promoting Obamacare.

The socialist thugs won't be satisfied until they impose themselves into every aspect of our lives.

A warmer climate might actually allow grass to survive at Heinz Field

DIMocRATs are truly insane. Rather than ever being given any authority and power, they should be shunted aside to wander in the wilderness so as to provide sick entertainment.

One of the easiest things we could do to curb CO2 emissions would be to ban all non-essential, frivolous and purely discretionary travel and use of energy. Therefore, I suggest we ban all travel to all sports events, ban the use of artificial lighting at all sports events and only schedule them during daytime hours, and ban all use of gasoline in any sporting event.

Let’s see how all the big sports teams, players, TV Networks, and cable companies would like that effort to reduce so-called global warming. I think they may change their tune pretty quickly if those simple measures were put into force.

I would love to see Alan Iverson or Travis Henry supporting this “climate push.”

And you could attend a game without freezing your ***off.

Why the Steelers didn't get an enclosed stadium, I'll never know.

...in other words, bring us back to World War II status...gas and food rationing...coupons and vouchers and the like..I’ve thought that would be a useful tool for the purpose of letting us see how pampered and debased we are as a culture...what a shock that would be to the populace at large, I’m all for it...for a while...

This with NASCAR pushing the ethanol thing. Austin Dillon is doing a PSA saying those who say that ethanol is killing the internal parts of our engines as pure fabrications. He then goes on to sing the praises of how NASCAR uses it in the race cars and they get more horsepower. That may be true to a point, but he doesn’t tell you that the rash of engine failures this year came at the same time they started running 15%. Plus, the average fuel stint was reduced by several laps from the year before.

Somewhere along the line, NASCAR was led by the nose and are now shin deep in the agenda of this administration.

Knowing NASCAR, the only reason they’re doing this is because money is changing hands.
Can’t comment on E15 causing engine failures, most in Nas are valve train related due to pushing the rpm for more power.

Adrian Peterson strongly disagrees with the UN’s one-child policy and I doubt most NBA players abide by it either.

Most of the new ones are fuel related. They had the valve train thing figured out some time ago and you saw the reliability so predictable that engine builders could tell you in about a 10 mile range when the engine would give up.

I have personal knowledge and experience with the Roush D3 Flat Tappet engines. They did something very logical but also very ingenious in that when the car was ready to run, the oil system had the entire valley between the heads flooded with oil in addition to the area between the top of the head surface almost all the way up to the underside of the valve cover. There are tubes that the oil under the valve cover would flow through to the valley and from the valley to the rest of the system. I think the cam was also in the flooded condition under the valley.

In that they used regular flat, solid lifters is what gave these engines the “Flat Tappet” name. I have data showing the engine going over 9600 without any sign of floating the valves and the engine was not grunting but instead kept pulling. The techs at Roush told us to go ahead and run the red line to 10K and not worry about it.

So, if they were able to get to that point before the E15 introduction without worrying about valve train issues, the only thing that changed from one year to the next was nobody had any historical data of long track runs that can never be duplicated on a dyno.

Roush had a some valve train failures this year. Carl Edwards was on the scanner at Bristol when one happened. He probably would have won the race.

Based on your comments, I’m sure you realize they are always making the cam profiles more radical - up to the point of failure. And of course the valve spring steel is magical stuff but every micrometer of length can’t be perfect.

Beware of what you hear on TV and remember, the driver can only give an idea of what happened and maybe even more so, know they are live on the air and no driver for any team will give a true indication of what he thinks on the air, unless he wants a trip to the Oval Office for one and also a trip to the team owners office.

I cannot impress more upon you just how “managed” many of today’s racing is and it is all about money, not competition.
