I looked up the members of my seminary graduating class recently and discovered that many of my friends are now deceased. It was a sober reminder of the brevity of life. Three score and ten, give or take a few years, and were gone (Ps. 90:10). Israels poet was right: Were but strangers here and sojourners (39:12).
The brevity of life makes us think about our endthe measure of our days and how fleeting they are (v.4), a feeling that grows more certain as we draw closer to the end of our lives. This world is not our home; were but strangers and sojourners here.
Yet we are not alone on the journey. We are strangers and sojourners with God (39:12), a thought that makes the journey less troubling, less frightening, less worrisome. We pass through this world and into the next with a loving Father as our constant companion and guide. Were strangers here on earth, but we are never alone on the journey (73:23-24). We have One who says, I am with you always (Matt. 28:20).
We may lose sight of father, mother, spouse, and friends, but we always know that God is walking beside us. An old saying puts it like this: Good company on the road makes the way to seem lighter.

My Father began working at Tyndall not long after he was discharged after WWII. Around 1953 or so, President Eisenhower layed off nearly the entire civilian work force at Tyndall.
With a wife and 5 children, Daddy sold vacuum cleaners, insurance etc. until he got back on at nearby Eglin. Daddy hated Eisenhower for the rest of his life. He ended up working at Eglin for nearly 35 years.
From Bell YFM-1 Airacuda Wikipedia Page : "The Bell YFM-1 Airacuda was an American heavy fighter aircraft, developed by the Bell Aircraft Corporation during the mid-1930s. It was the first military aircraft produced by Bell. Originally designated the "Bell Model 1," the Airacuda first flew on 1 September 1937. The Airacuda was marked by bold design advances and considerable flaws that eventually grounded the aircraft.
"The Airacuda was Bell Aircraft's answer for a "bomber destroyer" aircraft armed with two forward firing 37mm cannons. Although it did see limited production, and one fully operational squadron was eventually formed, only one prototype and 12 production models were ultimately built, in three slightly different versions."
Gadzooks, that was... a great looking aircraft!
Too bad the design flaws... never got fixed.
The only US twin engines fighters that were successful were the US Army Air Force Lockheed P-38 Lightning and the Marines Grumman F7F Tigercat.
Both the Royal Air Force and Luftwaffe went the "Heavy Twin-engine Fighter/Bomber Destroyer" route with the Brit's de Havilland Mosquito and Bristol Beaufighter and Nazi Germany's Messerschmitt's Bf-11, Me-210 and Me-410. Only the Mosquito was a real winner in this group.

I recall in late 60s refueling F-4s with training pilots at night from Tyndall, made for an interesting and sometimes tense mission. Also MacDill.
Good evening, Mac...*HUGS*...how were you Monday commutes?
It’s cold here.....it is not yet 1800 and it is single digits. I will have to start my car before leaving.
They just told us Accounting, HR, and Payroll will be making an office move...payroll the week of December 16th. The good thing is it will be closer to home, and a straight shot from my neighborhood. It is the building I worked in before moving to this one clear across town.
Man...the phone won’t stop ringing...don’t they know that work hours are over for today?
Another base I’ve not been to.

Great road trip, Galz! I could use a road trip to Florida myself! :)
Maybe my son and his family will choose FL for their new home when he retires next year!
Up late again with empty wine glass. I love Florida military bases. My first visit to FL was in a C -47 to MacDill AFB as an ROTC freshman . Next year to Homestead AFB.
I think in the 60s thru 90s I went TDY to Patrick AFB/Cape Canaveral AFS 300 times for launch preps.
NOW...NOW I am finally gonna move there!!!
This time near a Navy Station, Mayport . in Dec I will change. my FR home state from Downeast Maiine to Atlantic Beach FLORIDA.
