Israel is working on coordinating plans for a possible military strike with Saudi Arabia, with Riyadh prepared to provide tactical support to Jerusalem, a British newspaper reported early Sunday.

The two countries have both united in worry that the West may come to terms with Iran ...

“It all seems highly unlikely, and more examples of rumours and bluff.”

The thing is (and no one seems to be mentioning this, I might add) — what happens if Obama’s “peace talks” fail?

Right now it is rumored Iran is 1-6 months from a bomb

Obama wants to “talk it out”

...so, what if we cant “talk it out”?

If the talks fail, doesn’t that kind of mean we ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO go to war? But who in their right mind thinks Obama will?

Israel & SA discussing this would only make sense in that case

My memory of the Lebanese War a few years ago is that the Saudis were encouraging Israel to go all the way into the Bekaa Valley, to keep going until they had destroyed Hezbollah.

The Israelis, under Olmert, only pushed into Southern Lebanon. But it was one of the surprises of the war to see the Saudis giving Israel the green light to go go go. But understandable, since Hezbollah is Iran’s catspaw, and Iran is the country the Saudis fear most.

It just showed that the middle east is a bit more complicated than most people notice.

This may be a very good development and could save both Israel and the middle east from further disaster. Obama be damned.

Step 1: Saudi Arabia and Israel reach an agreement.

Step 2: The Saudis allow Israel to establish a secret airfield in the desert.

Step 3: Israel strikes Iran.

Step 4: The Saudis publicly condemn Israel.

Step 5: The Saudis privately congratulate Israel.

I wouldn't be surprised if Steps 1 and 2 were already in place.

There is no longer any such thing as a "secret airfield". With the number of Earth Observation Satellites working today images of any supposedly secret airfield in Saudi land would be in the possession of many countries already, not to mention the US satellites which would be very capable and very interested in new construction.

But, if the Saudis allowed Israel to use an existing airbase this might work out well.

Both Israel and Saudi Arabia use US equipment. Fly the right aircraft to SA ahead of time and with a little repainting it might be possible to convince anyone looking at a satellite image that those are Saudi planes on the ground, not Israeli.

Or, a few extra temporary hangers and a lot of stuff can be kept out of sight. The boys over there know a lot about large tents.

Fuel and everything else can be supplied through the existing facilities.

As you say, step 1. is probably done.

Step 2. ready and waiting.

Step 3. Maybe a little different than yours. SA does not actually attack, but does supply cover for Israeli planes. Fake sorties, radar from planes over the ocean, etc.

Step 4. SA condemns Israel, denies allowing overflight.

Step 5. As you say.

The big unknown: Can this be done with missiles/drones/cruise missiles instead of aircraft?

Obama will finally have the distraction he needs, and the US military will attack Iran to protect itself from retaliation from an Israeli strike.

or could Saudi have interest because it is the leader of OPEC, which is one of the foundation stones of the USD. OPEC enforces that oil must be traded in USD

Iran Brokers oil to Russia in other than USD, so did Sadaam, so did Ghadaffy, and Syria

Seems that anyone who dares mess with OPEC or the USD gets wacked,

The Saudis are out shopping for nuclear weapons because they no longer trust America for their defense. They fear attack from Iran. They have more in common with Israel than they do with Obama ruled America.

US military will attack Iran...

Ø's military may appear on the surface to attack Iran. Effectively, though, Ø's military will attack Israel, as Ø is already at war via various proxies against Israel.

The US Miltary sold 30 Super Bunker Penetrators / Busters to Israel last year.

They will need permission to fly over Saudi Arabia in any case because Obumbo will not let them fly over Iraq. A re-fueling station in Northern Saudi Arabia would be handy as well. A quick raid—backed up with sub launched missles, would do the trick. And set the Iranians back 10 years. still, this could all be rumors to cover some other attack—something simple and direct. Even troops on the ground with explosives? An attack on their power grid. Maybe a way to cause the reactors to go all Chernoble or something?

I would not be surprised. During my time in Kingdom, I watched Haliburton and Schlumberger set up camps and airfields overnight for oil operations. With a few changes, a forward operations base can be set up with logistical support in 24 hours. That part is believable.

The petulant man-child has no say over that. Iraq is a {ahem}sovereign{snort} nation now.

Well Putin is once again working with Egypt so pretty much anythings possible in the International Events today. Obama certainly isn’t taking any stands except against the citizens of our own nation!

Also, if Saudi is working with Israel the Saudi’s would not broadcast it. However I wouldn’t put it past Iran to put that out there...masters at propaganda they are....

Strange things happen when the US surrenders and pulls out of the premier world leadership position and lets things just “happen”. Vacuums are filled by Russia, Iran, China and bad guys all over the planet.
Thank you Pres. Obama for voluntarily unraveling US power...

No, this is really old news.

The alliance has been leaked for several years. Prior to the series of invo;untary set backs to the Iranian programs, Saudi Arabia leaked the fact that IAF planes could use Saudi air space and land at a specified base thought to ne Al Batin

Iraq doesn’t have the aircraft to control their airspace. That’s why they want the F 16s. That’s why Malaki was here a few days ago.
