Exactly the very same thing for me, at exactly the same time (SEP 08), but actually preceded a bit more earlier in my doubts about him, when he continued to 'fight' in Iraq in 2004-2005 with minimally small number of combat troops for a "politically correct prosecution of the war" thereby allowing insurrection to take hold with uncontrolled chaos and open borders with Iran...resulting in losing Congress in 2006, and then a belated correction action with a 30,000 troop "SURGE".

And he still vacations there. It was never meant to be his permanent home. When he left the WH he bought another fairly modestly-priced house for full time living.

Anybody paying attention knew the crash was coming. I meant on a superficial level, those years were milk and honey. It is hard not to look upon them fondly, especially now.
