Who Killed Michael Hastings?
New York Magazine ^ | Nov 10, 2013 | Benjamin Wallace

Reflexively distrustful, eager to make powerful enemies, the young journalist whose Mercedes exploded in Los Angeles one night couldn’t possibly have died accidentally, could he?

A t the end of his life, Michael Hastings, like many of the progressive journalists he counted among his friends, felt besieged by an overreaching government. Hastings was living in Los Angeles, and at a Beverly Hills theater in April, he took part in a panel discussion about the documentary War on Whistleblowers: Free Press and the National Security State. Interviewed in May on The Young Turks, a talk show on Current TV, Hastings railed against the Obama administration, which “has clearly declared war on the press”; the only recourse, he said, was for the press to respond: “We declare war on you.” On May 31, he dashed off an urgent tweet: “first they came for manning. Then Assange. Then fox. Then the ap.drake and the other whistle-blowers. Any nyt reporters too.” He attended screenings of his friend Jeremy Scahill’s film Dirty Wars, which seeks to expose “the hidden truth behind America’s expanding covert wars,” and when leaks about the NSA began appearing in The Guardian, and Edward Snowden was charged with espionage, Hastings was deeply troubled by the revelations and the Justice Department’s response. On June 7, his last post for BuzzFeed, where he was a staff writer, focused on “Why Democrats Love to Spy on Americans,” and at the time of his death, Hastings was working on a profile of CIA director John Brennan for Rolling Stone.

President Barack Obama bragged to his aides that he's 'really good at killing people,' according to explosive claims in a new book about the 2012 presidential campaign.

No Doubt in my mind about this at all.

Nor about Breitbart either.

Ah, but we’re just crazy conspiracy theorists, immune to the effects of probability and dead to evidence...

Benjamin Wallace probably has no idea that he is libeling a large chunk of people. I wonder if he considers the Holocaust a “conspiracy theory”...

The only reason Brennan is in his current position is because he covered up the passport breach of Obama, Hilary and McCain. The guy that breached the file had a bullet in his head a few weeks later. Brennan was his boss.

We have but seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to scandals and corruption. Yea, even murder and assassination! There was a reason Snowden went to Putin’s Russia—I believe—if he did not—he would have had an “accident” (he still might). Whole novels, a cottage industry will grow up in the years following Obama’s fall from power.

Michael Hastings was an ambitious, unscrupulous MSM reporter. General McChrystal, either through his own vanity and poor judgment or political pressure from the Obama Administration, allowed Hastings complete access to his command team. Hastings responded with a hatchet job article for Rolling Stone titled “The Runaway General”. In the article Hastings attributed supposed quotes from private conversations to McChrystal's staff. The quotes Hastings reported were criticisms of the incompetence of the politicians and civilian officials in the Obama Administration including Joe Biden.

Shortly after the article went public General McChrystal retired. A follow up report by the Defense Department Inspector General found that most of the article was untrue.

As a result of the article, Hasting became a celebrity. He became popular with MSM journalists, media names and Democrat Party operatives. Later he would claim he was working on a big secret story. This may or may not have been an exaggeration.

That being said, I have always felt the official version of his death and witness accounts did not make sense. There is more to his death than has been reported.

This article, for the most part, is a dishonest version of Hasting’s life. The article is full of less than accurate praise and is meant to make him appear far more important and good than he actually was.It contains almost no information on the details of Hastings death.

Why was Tom Clancy killed?

The speculation on his murder was that he was fed intel on US sub operations and classified history to write books like "The Hunt for Red October". It was, according to the ex-CIA source who went public, to both shut him up and to pay him back.
