I want a kidney. Grown from my own cells. I may see that happen before I shuttle off this mortal coil.

So, will they be able to “print” a patient a new hand or leg someday?

Between this, and that study where they transplanted memories from one rat to another, how long before it becomes possible to print a copy of a person, mind and all?

Now print me a new replacement heart valve. The mechanical one ticks away like a clock (I actually get “your watch is loud” comments), but I’d rather have something derived from my own cells.

Wake me up when it makes more churches, more doctors and researchers doing real science, more fully intact American families, more motorbikes, more brains, more militiamen, more drug manufacturers, more American engineers and so on. Otherwise I could care less.

I have to believe that they’re using the term, 3D printer, in a way different from that which we’re accustomed to. I can’t imagine that it’s possible to make infinitely complex human cells from inorganic materials. Maybe these are nano machines.
