Saudi Arabia has a secret deal with Pakistan offering funding for Islamabad’s nuclear weapons programme in return for access to warheads, according to the BBC’s Newsnight show.
Rumours of a deal have long circulated in the Middle East, amid Saudi anxiety at its principal regional rival Iran developing a “Shia bomb”.
Fresh details emerged on the eve of talks in Geneva to find a deal on Iran's nuclear capabilities.
Citing American intelligence reports and a former Pakistani security officer, the BBC said nuclear weapons made in Pakistan for Saudi Arabia were ready for delivery.
However, the Pakistan government dismissed the reports as “baseless” and AQ Khan, the nuclear scientist accused of selling atomic secrets to Libya and North Korea, said such a deal would harm the interests of both countries.

Seriously though, for decades the middle east has always been considered ‘the’ world’s flash point because tempers run so hot there and so many of them don’t think beyond today and getting their own ‘way’. And of course as had been mentioned earlier on this site the poorest of the moslems think that the fastest way to ‘paradise’ and the 72 virgins and houris is to go around killing Jews and the other varieties of infidels.
So with that mindset and historical way of looking at the world and having nuclear weapons available means that they aren’t considered a ‘deterrent’ so much as they are considered in the same league as a much larger ‘truck bomb’.
To my mind that means the will be used, the question is where and when?
The nonproliferation treaty has been shattered ages ago. You cannot have treaties and muslims in the same world.
Simply not possible.
Tel Aviv, maybe London, Moscow. Maybe somewhere in the States.

Suicide is not just for the poor. The World Trade Center attackers and several suicide bombers were from privileged upper classes. Also, the Jews have less to fear from a nuclear armed Saudi Arabia or Iran than the Iranians and Saudis. The Arabs respect the Jews but they don’t fear them as they know as long as they don’t attack they won’t be attacked. But they fear each other because they know when the other side (Sunnis/Shia) gets the bomb they’ll first use it to eliminate each other.

Good points, sectarian violence does seem to be worse doesn’t it?
While Americans consider Baseball or football as sport, the Islamics enjoy killing each other or beating their wives and stoning them as their sport.

These guys hate the Iranians. They want a bomb to offset the ones across the Gulf. They really haven’t had a big beef with Israel in decades.

In many ways the Saudi government is reminiscent of the Soviet government; old men more interested in their comfort, prestige and power than their ideology. Both governments actively promoted an ideology they didn’t believe in, or at least didn’t demonstrate by living it. Nobody, other than Shias, have anything to fear from the Saudi government. But the Saudi true believers are dangerous to the bone. The government may not realize that the ideology, unlike the Soviet’s communism, that they’ve promoted in their own people is at least as dangerous to them as it is to the western world.
The Saudi government probably envisions using Pakistani nukes as a permanent mutual assured destruction mechanism to hold Iran at bay. But both cultures are teetering on becoming rabid suicide cults with the bomb. The Shias will incinerate the Sunnis as soon as look at them. But the Sunnis will fire second, which in the world of nukes, may mean not at all. (This is probably why the Saudi’s are negotiating to purchase German made submarines so they can have a second launch capability.)
As long as they keep the nuke strikes in the population centers and avoid the oil fields,sounds OK to me.
