Sarvis received 145,000 votes. Cuccinelli lost by 55,000. Yes, McDonnell’s scandals hurt big-time. If McDonnell had been clean, he could have campaigned with Cuccinelli and made a big difference. Governor McDonnell is a huge disappointment, ethically. (Cuccinelli wasn’t sparkly clean either, but his failings were minor compared to McDonnell).

This is a good illustration of the lines along which the USA ought to be divided. Let the libs have their own territory. They can take all their “expertise” (of the sort that created Healthcare.gov) and see how well they do. They can also have all the non-workers they think ought to live off their tax money. Obviously, they could fit (snugly) into a small geographic area, but I would gladly give them half the former country’s turf just to get rid of them.

I think that is a brilliant analysis, and makes total sense. The more government dependence in an area, the more it votes Democrat, and the larger the government dependence becomes, in a giant positive feedback loop, until the area becomes Detroit.
Democrats are bringing the the Detroit model to Virginia even if most of the counties don’t want it.

Can you enlighten us as to what exactly those scandals were? I don’t live in VA so I don’t know those kinds of details. I really don’t understand why people we elect on our side get themselves bunged up with these kind of things. Scandals are only resume-enhancers for ‘Rats. If one of our people gets caught up in one, they get crucified.

Reminds me a bit of Texas. Lots of real estate but massive numbers of Democrats and Libs reside in San Antonio, Austin, Houston and Dallas. Less populated areas are Conservative.
