A three-judge panel unanimously acquitted former foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman of the charges against him Wednesday morning. The verdict means he can return to serve as foreign minister, but the state is expected to appeal it.
“Seventeen years are over; it’s behind me,” Lieberman told reporters after the verdict. “I want to thank my family and friends who truly stood by me in all of those 17 years and gave me the support. I want to thank the defense team that did an amazing job; extraordinary.”
“I do not intend to deal with this issue anymore,” he added. “This chapter is behind me, and I am focusing on the challenges that are already facing us.” …

Had he been a Left-wing politician, they would have arrived at the same verdict but after 2 and not 17 years.
People love to hate him because he is Russian, gruff, does not mince his words and says what most Israelis know viscerally to be true but are afraid to say it public.
He states the truth albeit in a very undiplomatic way and he is the Foreign Minister! He knows the true intentions of Israel's enemies even though they (the PLO) are packaged as Israel's “PARTNERS FOR PEACE”. Lieberman knows it's a lie and says so without reservation, much to the chagrin of naive diplomats.

That’s exactly why I like him.
He is Netanyahu's Rottweiler. As the Foreign Minister he is supposed to be subtle, which he is not.
His approach is the correct one for personalities in the Middle East.
He scares the Israeli Left and he scares Israel's enemies - this is the law of the jungle out there.
