Good review and I had the same reaction. The lone prepper in the bunker just seemed silly to me. Even without the goof-ball kid who caused some problems, the guy by himself with his wife and daughter seems like a recipe for getting killed in a SHTF scenario.

He should have been promoting community as you describe. My little rural town (I was born in 70, so had to look up Celia) was close-knit growing up, but now I go into town and don’t run into anyone I know. And we’ve lived here since I was born.

I’m working more on the community and skills preparation side of things rather than stockpiling food.

I’ve never worked for the govt., just decided, based on the reality of Benghazi, to question everything else our government has told us. But ever since then, I post very little of what I’ve learned because I get every name in the book thrown at me to try and shut me up...sometimes even here. Even those who blame Obama/Clinton for Benghazi REFUSE to allow themselves to think outside their ‘normalcy bias’. But once you do, the truth and possibilities are more incomprehensible than even leaving 4 Americans to die.

As far as your scenario for a ‘grid’ outage goes...there’s lots of information about the upcoming GridEX-2 ‘drill’ scheduled for this month. Now it’s reported that there are CHINESE military boots on the ground in Hawaii (there is a thread on it) and I have also read about RUSSIAN boot on the ground in TN. So, if our power grid goes down, why would we need to depend on CHINA and RUSSIA to help us? Because they’d be more willing to shoot Americans? Obama has thrown scandal after scandal on us to keep us so off balance that not only is it hard to breath, ^*%& is piling up so quick that NOTHING has a hope or a chance of getting resolved. With Obamacare failing, he’s getting more and more desperate and I FIRMLY believe our government is capable of doing as you suggest, would not be their first ‘false flag’...I also FIRMLY believe they are capable of doing far WORSE and WILL.

I’ve lost track of the ‘scandals’...wonder if anyone has a list?

I guess if you expect the cavalry to ride in, that might be enough. But he looked prepped to be in an extended SHTF scenario and for that, his preps were pretty worthless. He and his family would be doomed.

I’m not claiming *I* am properly prepped for a SHTF scenario, but people do have to realize that building a community, long-term skills, and having people you can trust and count on is worth as much if not more than a year’s worth of prep food and a stockpile of weapons (that only one person in his party could use). And having his fuel exposed where any passer-by can see it or steal it? Stupid.

Also having to go outside to get to your bunker seemed like a poor design. But its easy to critique I guess, harder to think through everything.
