Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews and a handful of his teammates, as well as one ex-teammate, now have more in common than just being Stanley Cup champions.

They can say they were called out by the President of the United States at the White House. Not too shabby.

President Barack Obama honored his hometown hockey team Monday for its 2013 Stanley Cup championship in front of a standing-room only crowd in the East Room. During his remarks, President Obama referenced Toews, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Bryan Bickell, Dave Bolland, Andrew Shaw and Corey Crawford in various forms of praise and comedy.

It was part of a celebration that the Blackhawks will never forget.

Black hawks OK

Redskins not OK

To paraphrase Nixon;

“It’s only racism if I say it’s racism.”

Didn’t hockey season just start again? Nothing like being timely.

The Chicago Blackhawk is smiling, so it's OK.

Ya, what’s up with that? Obama weighed in on the Redskins name issue. But Blackhawks is ok? The Blackhawk insignia, which is a caricature of an Indian head, is ok? The Redskins also have an Indian head caricature, and that’s not ok, per Obama and the liberals?

How do the liberals decide what their targets are???

GASP; Isn’t that an Indian name! Maybe they should change it to the Chicago Blacks!

If a name change is good enough for the Redskins it’s good for the Blackhawks.

Obama was busy during the 12 seconds between the end of the Stanley Cup finals and the beginning of preseason games.

I just hope that Obama lifted the cup above his head... please, please, please.

He calls out 6 Canadians and 1 American player for special mention. Canadians comprise the core of the Blackhawks and American players are the second largest group. One of the reasons I like the Hawks so much - very little reliance on European players.

And no honor for WWII vets or any vets for that matter.

Honor longtime generals with the current purge.

Good picture comparison. One is okay with the liberals, and the other is a shameful caricature which liberals want destroyed. What are the liberal criteria for judging these things????

I find the term "blackhawks" offensive.

I prefer African-AmericanHawks.

I’ll tell you what it is: They don’t want any reference to SKIN.

If you mention the color of someone’s skin as in RED SKIN you are racist.

Why would anyone be surprised?

BOTOH

Black Hawk, the famous war chief of the Sauk tribe, was born in 1767. He grew up in Saukenuk, an Indian village on the Rock River near the Mississippi. During his lifetime he earned a reputation as a daring warrior.

So it's okay for the Illinois team but not for the Redskins.
