A doctor shortage is threatening to make the roll-out of the Affordable Care Act even more difficult and it could create lines for care and services.
New Yorkers are notorious for wanting things immediately, and that includes medical care.
But even doctors who support Obamacare say there could be delays due to more patients and fewer doctors, CBS 2s Dick Brennan reported Monday.

I think many, if not most on FR, saw this coming.
Had a conversation with my veterinarian a few weeks ago. He said that Congress passed a law (when, name?) which mandated that 50% of all medical school slots for new students had to be reserved for females. Yet many, if not most, of these women, took time off to raise their families, and few women doctors ever establish a business practice - both which contribute heavily to the physician shortage. He went on to say that 1 out of 4 physicians in the U.S. today went to medical school outside of the U.S., i.e., they immigrated to the U.S. He went on to say that the veterinary schools were having a problem getting enough male students these days.
Tell them to get that med degree and head offshore. They will make serious money and live on a nice island. Med tourism is going to have a big future with USA customers.
Gee, do they think so?
Who is running this?
What kid in his right mind would take on a post graduate debt of $50 to &100 G to work for Obama to be told by government clerks how to practice medicine, for whom, and for a lot less that $150G with interest, per year?
The media is running the country, but they haven’t brought this up until now.
I’ll bet they truly believe Ted Cruz is a radical for wanting the constitution back in charge instead of the usurpers.
Yes, there’s going to be a shortage of medical workers.
WE are Americans, not socialists.
Socialism will not work here, among people and a constitution founded on freedom. It’s in our blood. It is in doctors’ blood. they are not going to go for this.
Affirmative Action and gov grants to cover the cost.
Throw another $trillion$ on the barbie, mate.
Throw another sucker on a gurney and wheel’m to the soylent chamber...
oh, that’s 50 to 100 G PER YEAR, of course. And 50 is instate tuition in Texas, so it’s lowball.
who needs death panels when you can just give them an appointment so far out you know they will be dead before hand?
LOL owwwww, that’s so true it hurts.
This is America, we used to have a free market where owners of businesses decided on the price of their products and services. I don’t think students will make the choice to be doctors if they are forced to have less freedom than the local Air conditioner man or mechanic.
7.5% social security and medicare tax
federal income tax
state income taxes
hidden taxes on business they have to pay and pass on to us (a 23% tax for all the gov regulations and taxes businesses have to pay )
This is not enough say the government funded scientists and university professors who do fake global warming research to further enslave us. also welfare creeps say they need a new 60 inch tv and $300 sneakers. in obamacare/socialism there will be shortages of everything
socialism = shortages, rationing, very low quality , poverty and we become slaves of the government. this is the dream of all democrats
Just biological units...
My kids doctor drive a Hyundai. Nothing wrong with those cars at all. But it’s not even a top of the line.
BTW he’s counting the days to retirement.
Did you know that the Obamacare “medical device” tax applies to fishing tackle and ammunition?
"Holiday Special! This week only, get a boob job and facelift, and we'll throw in a FREE kidney transplant!"
First step is mental health evaluations for anyone suspected of voting this jackass.
I know your question was not directed to me but.. I can’t let it go..
are you serious?
snoops said it happened. but it was not suppose to.
dem think is mind crap.
I keep hearing libs/communists say that single payer is better. But, is that not the government saying no. Assuming, they want comparable care, does that not mean they want to take over 1/6th of the economy, $2.5 trillion. Given the government takes in now $2.6 trillion, does that not say they must increase taxes by $2.5 trillion just to cover what is now covered. But, they want to cover everyone not insured which will require another $1 trillion. Typically, the Bolshies get away with this by promising only the rich will pay for it, but, this will take everyone with a job. Where am I going with this?
Costs will be contained by paying providers less, reducing liability (a painful blow to the Bolshie tort dependent crowd) which will increase the number of substandard providers. If your doctor understands English you will be blessed.
