Former Texas speaker Wright denied voter ID
KCBD News Channel 11 ^ | 3 November 2013

Posted on 11/04/2013 6:39:52 AM PST by Army Air Corps

This news story appeared in a local news outlet, but the ultimate source is the AP. The story notes that former (Democrat) Speaker of the House of Representatives, Jim Wright, claims that he was denied an ID to vote. Yeah, I am supposed to believe that a former Speaker of the House has not one valid, government-issued photo ID in his possession. Anyone else smell a publicity stunt?

Fort-Worthless Jim.

I wonder if he still has some of those books?

Are criminals allowed to vote in Texas?

Indeed. Until I read this article, I thought that the ol’ bum snuffed it years ago.

I thought that the ol’ bum snuffed it years ago.

Then he should move to Illinois and get five voter IDs.

Another failed and very weak attempt by the dems to show that Voter ID laws are unfair. But the REAL reason is probably they thought Wright is [or should be] a convicted felon and denied the right to vote.

It is a publicity stunt. The piece in our morning fishwrap explains that he tried to get an ID with an expired driver’s license (he gave up driving three years ago) and a faculty ID. He got one with a birth certificate.

A Democrat pulling a publicity stunt? The hell you say! Next, you’ll tell me that that Obama’s wife eats anything in sight.

Jim Wright knows very well, that it is a lot easier to get a Voter ID than to get quality health care now because of ObamaCare.

Soon enough, it will be easier to get a Voter ID and to vote, than to get in to see the doctors of your choosing from *your* personal list of doctors whom you’ve researched and approve (vs. some government “menu” from the central planners).

Wright said he's arranged to get a valid state ID in time by presenting a certified copy of his birth certificate. But the 90-year-old Democrat says he worries about others who could be affected by what he called "unduly stringent requirements."

Translation - he figured it out but some of you peons may be too stupid to present the proper documentation

Even in liberal Austin there was an article about how smoothly the new law is being implemented and nobody is denied the right to vote if they are qualified for it. I had to do a double take.

Did Wright think he was special and above the law and shouldn’t have proper identifying paperwork to obtain an ID? He showed his TCU id badge? If he is too senile to read the requirements needed for the DMV, why is he still teaching?

my 93 y.o. mother got her Texas photo id without any problem.

Ol Jim must still be pouting over SW airlines final victory over the Wright amnendment which prohibited them from flying out of Texas non=stop.

One of the most corrupt individuals to come out of Texas. Only LBJ tops him. Had to resign to avoid pesky trial and jail term!!!

Well, if he has no ID, let’s drop all his government benefits, then watch him produce some ID pronto.
