I even had to hear this at mass this morning. The priest compared todays Gospel to the Communist Manifesto.

Say what??? Did you run out of there? Talk to other parishioners about it? I would have a hard time just sitting there listening to that (like 0 did for 20 years!).

That would be my last mass at that church and I would tell the priest why.

What? Do you actually sit there and listen to and support this kind of mass?

WHAAAT?

Zaccureus had a spiritual awakening, he sought out Jesus and THEN he became more Christian and VOLUNTEERED to give half his money to the poor.

BTW, the only true, “communal” societies that ever worked were voluntary small groups based on Christianity..the monks and the convents...and that because their strong spiritual faith they worked on every day in their small communities witheach other to change the natural inclinations of man.

He is either completely naive or evil. I would have stood up and walked out.

I’d quit that church and let the Priest know exactly why.

The story in Luke 19 is much more redemptive than anything communists can imagine. The reviled and sinful (in Jewish law) tax collector sought merely a view of Jesus, and when Jesus saw him and called him, and ate in his house, he became the man for good, pledging to the poor, and restitution. His relationship with Christ enabled him to be the man he was meant to be. Christ is there for even the most fallen of us to become in communion with him, to dine with him at his table. He can set a table in Jericho or in the wilderness or anywhere he wants. Just watch for the miracle!!
