Tea Party activists are reportedly urging Christian historian David Barton to primary against Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas). The move comes as some Texas Republicans question Cornyn’s devotion to conservative values.
Rick Green, a close adviser to Barton and a speaker for the historian’s WallBuilder‘s organization, told National Review Online (NRO) that more than 1,000 Tea Party and conservative leaders have asked Barton to run.

Cornyn is vulnerable and that’s why he is running ads right now,” Green wrote in an e-mail to the outlet. “Like America’s Founding Fathers, David Barton will not ‘seek’ this office, but if the people of Texas speak loud enough in the next few days, he could most certainly be drafted in by the voters.”
Just how serious are Barton’s supporters? They’re pretty adamant, according to JoAnn Fleming, executive director of Grassroots America We the People, a conservative political organization in Texas.
She said that some Tea Party leaders are slated to hold a conference call with Barton during the next few days.
“We believe that Senator Cornyn has become part of the establishment and we don’t believe that his priorities reflect the priorities of the people of Texas any longer,” she told NRO, adding that a constitutional conservative should be occupying his seat.
A Facebook group called “Draft David Barton for US Senate“ has been setup to help push the historian’s potential candidacy. The group, which is invite-only, had 1,628 members as of Thursday morning.
“This group is set up to alert the grassroots that there is a movement taking place that would like to encourage David Barton with Wallbuilders to run for the US Senate against John Cornyn,” reads a description of the Facebook effort.

I’ll vote for Barton in a heartbeat. I pray that Cornyn gets a really outstanding challenger, such as Barton. Cornyn votes with Harry Reid when the chips are down.

Louis Gohmert is also considering it. He voted for cloture and then claimed he voted against funding Obamacare afterward when his vote didn’t matter. He is my senator and he is a scammer like Juan McCain - convincing the rubes of his conservative values to get re-elected, and then screwing his base with defeatist votes. Cornyn needs to become a surf again.

Barton is far more than just some Christian historian….very smart dude….and knows the rough and tumble world of politics. He’s not just a Huckster type either...

Yes we are and the Satanists in command don’t like it at all and are using every device to oppose us but they can’t because the Truth cuts like a knife and exposes their methods and tools of deception. He’s my senator too, and he’s not getting my vote.
I can pretty much guarantee, Cornyn has made a deal with the dems.
The deal is how the dems make a RINO.
Cornyn will vote to help the dems achieve their goals if the dems help him in his primary.
Cornyn wins the primary with dem help, then the dems run a far left over the top candidate against him.
Because the dem is so far over the top leftist, everyone will say just hold your nose and vote for Cornyn because we can’t allow the far left over the top dem to get elected.
Cornyn gets reelected.
Dems own another RINO.
I hope he announces then. Get rid of Corny in the primary or a runoff and we have a tag team from Texas.

Gohmert is my US rep as well. I’d support either Louie or Barton over Cornyn.
Cornyn will likely lose a general election precisely because he has alienated conservatives. He will be the first Repub to lose statewide since 1994.
Hence the importance of a different nominee.

I hear that Gohmert has said that he will not run. I didn’t hear that directly from Gohmert, but from people supposedly in the know. So....fwiw.
I do know that we are running out of time and fast.
Personally, I think Barton would be an amazing candidate and he would make Cornyn crap if he ran. Corny needs to hear from us. He is a coward and a fig leaf conservative. Now that we know what a real Senator is supposed to do, we need to let Corny know that we are on to his charade.
