Shane Victorino's three-run double broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning and John Lackey allowed one run over 6 and 2/3 innings as the Boston Red Sox wrapped up their eighth World Series title in franchise history and third in 10 seasons with a 6-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

The win completed a remarkable turnaround for the Red Sox, who finished last in the American League East with a record of 69-93 in 2012, but won 97 games under first-year manager John Farrell and defeated the Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers to reach their first World Series since 2007.

With the victory, the Red Sox faithful saw their team clinch a World Series title at Fenway Park for the first time since 191

Emperor Commodus sent a papyrus of congratulations to the manager.

I know I lived in Asia too long when I just found out there was the World Series. Thanks for the news tip. However, I’m a Yankees’ fan, so I’m glad I didn’t watch the World Series this year.

Congrats...ever since I was little and had baseball cards, I always liked some on the Bosox even if they aren’t my 1st, 2nd or 3rd team in fact, Orioles are the only Eastern Division team I cheer on.

Didn’t watch one minute of it. Didn’t really like either team, but wanted Cardinals to win with all those young pitchers. Cardinals blew their chances by blowing games in St. Louis, losing three straight to a team that was very beatable. Didn’t Sox set a record for most strikeouts for a team winning the series? I know Tiger pitchers dominated them, only to lose the series. I am happy that Mr. know-it-all Colin Blowhard on ESTN will shut now about how “great the Cardinals” are. But he gets on the bandwagon of any team that’s winning, so he’ll turn into a Sox fan now.

Watch the film "Moneyball" with Brad Pitt. It gives insight on how the Red Sox turned their team around (patterned after the Oakland A's manager's methodology).

“However, I’m a Yankees’ fan, so I’m glad I didn’t watch the World Series this year.”

I grew up a Yankees fan (back in the days of Ron Guidry, Thurman Munson, etc.); as I grew older I lost interest. Now when I see a game I’m shocked at how many foreigners are in the lineups; you’d think they were playing San Juan. Most of the older Yankee fans I worked with have retired, and they’ve been replaced with younger, darker workers who are soccer fans (which I enjoy as well). I don’t believe baseball is anywhere near as popular as it was even 25 years ago...

What’s with the beards on the Boston Team? Are they Duck Dynasty wannabe’s?

I grew up as a Don Mattingly fan. I felt bad that he played all those years and the year after he retired, the Yankees start winning the pennnant on a consistent basis. I thought it was cool that ol Steinbreener hated Mattingly’s moustache, but he refused to shave it.

I think it was something like “don’t shave until we win”, I vaguely heard about it.
