Has Your Health Insurance Plan Been Canceled?

They liked their health care plans—but they couldn’t keep them.

That’s the situation facing nearly 1.5 million Americans right now under Obamacare, although that’s far from a final tally.

White House spokesman Jay Carney admitted yesterday that some Americans will not be able to keep their health care plans under Obamacare:

So it’s true there are existing health care plans on the individual market that do not meet those minimum standards and therefore do not qualify for the Affordable Care Act.

Dianne Barrette of Florida is one of those people. Last month, the 56-year-old received a letter from Blue Cross Blue Shield informing her that her current plan will be canceled in January 2014. The new plan she’s being offered would cost her $591 a month—10 times more than the $54 premium she currently pays.

“What I have right now is what I am happy with and I just want to know why I can’t keep what I have,” Barrette told “CBS This Morning.” “Why do I have to be forced into something else?”

People all over the country are getting hit with cancellation notices from their health insurance companies detailing new, much more expensive plans that comply with Obamacare.

Californian Natalie Willis is another.

“Before, I had a plan that I had a $1,500 deductible,” she told CBS News. “I paid $199 a month. The most similar plan that I would have available to me would be $278 a month. My deductible would be $6,500, and all of my care after that point would only be covered 70 percent.”

The cancellations are still being announced in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and Maryland. Over the next year, NBC News reports, between 50 percent and 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy insurance on the individual market could get cancellations.

It’s been five weeks since HealthCare.gov launched, and the website’s problems are still not fixed. But Obamacare’s problems—like kicking people off their current health insurance—cannot be fixed. It was designed to transform the health insurance system with its web of mandates and regulations.

So what exactly would a “grandfathered” plan be?

To me, the grandfather concept is that you would be ok even if your existing plan doesn’t meet requirements.

If only plans that meet obamacare requirements are “grandfathered”, that’s not grandfathering.

The jug-eared moron’s “plan” was to blame insurance companies for the cancellations, but thanks to the epic failure that is O-holecare, even the idiots realize that their cancellations are due to the fascist wannabe.

There is an old saying.” Leave well enough alone”

Dipstick just couldn’t do that.
he added all of these special benefits and ordered them put into everyone’s insurance policies.

OF COURSE it cost more.
Any idiot could have foretold that

So what happens. Now these people have no insurance ——the website to get new insurance doesn’t work—and their cost is doubled. Sometimes tripled.

What should be happening is people should be marching on Washington with tar and feathers. The only reason they aren’t is that this doesn’t hurt the poor, they get their paid for or receive subsidies.

Who does it hurt????? It hurts the working man who is struggling from Obama’s recession already, and has a job and cannot take days off to tar and feather politicians who need it.

Google FL, has lost 16 MILLION alone, and it has the highest state population of senior 'snow' birds'.

And as a bonus you get Mooch's food plan for kids, tasteless garbage. You don't feed colon patients broccoli or cabbage, or hard to digest foods.

You forgot:

“I’m mad as hell about these cancellations. I am the only thing standing between these insurance companies and an angry mob holding pitchforks and if the insurance companies donate enough to me, I will gladly make empty statements about how angry I am at pitchforks.”

Sounds like time to restrict access to pitch forks. Or did you mean “bitch” forks. Besides, he found out about it like the rest of us. On the evening news. But what difference at this point does it make. Man, the raw comedic material is there for the taking ain’t it. Only it ain’t that funny. If he gets mocked too much he might toss another hissy fit and stamp his feet.

Welll.......

We got bumped out of our plan. The ins. company put us in a "Comparable" one - it's not comparable, not even close - that cost 50% more. So count me in this list.

I've not gone online yet to see what my other options are. That's a project for next month. I'm not optimistic.

You can keep your health plan IF it isn’t outlawed (like the so called Cadillac plans). President Obama is on record saying that there should be pressure and penalties on those who have them to rid them from the marketplace.

My policy will no longer be available after 2014. I doubt that I am in a rare situation, there must be a lot more than 1.5 million like me. The least expensive ACA option (Bronze plan) has almost double the price and a $10,000 deductible. That is not a typo...$10,000 deductible for the Bronze plan. The prices go up as you go from Bronze to Silver to Gold to Platinum.
