BAGHDAD — Ten car bombs targeting Shiite neighborhoods in Baghdad, the Iraqi capital, hit on Sunday morning. All 10 bombs went off within 40 minutes, starting from 9:30 a.m.

Forty-one civilians were killed and more than 100 others were wounded, according to security and medical officials. Ambulances rushed to hospitals and security forces tightened measures around checkpoints to search each passing car, creating a traffic jam.

Yes, I meant the community organizer.
Perhaps if we had stayed in Iraq for thirty years like
japan and germany they might have come out ok.
Afghanistan is another story and I have my doubts of it
EVER becoming a unified nation. Still I’m not there
so have no first hand experience.

"“better them than us” Dam right. You suppose they don’t think that way?"

No, I don't. They are a cult who think if they destroy western civilization and die in the process, they will have 72 virgins and mucho grapes and olives in green pastures. They are insane - they don't care about mutually assured destruction (MAD) like the Russians or China or India. Not sure about Pakistan.

Iran WILL build nuke bombs. No one is stopping them. Once they build enough to counter Israel's arsenal, the crazy Mullahs will launch. I'm 63 and bet I see it before I leave this rock.

Those people needed Saddam to keep them under control and from blasting each other to bits. They need the threat of government force to tone down their violent, savage natures.

Now that they have “democracy,” there is no restraint and we’re seeing just how brutal, uncivilized and violent they are.

Several years ago I angered some family members by saying that these people would never be able to live in democracy. I didn’t apologize, and now it’s obvious that I was right.

For decades, Iraq gave $$$ to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers. Payback is a bitch!

"Perhaps if we had stayed in Iraq for thirty years like japan and germany they might have come out ok."

The Japanese quickly learned their lesson when they found out their Emperor was not a god that couldn't stop an atomic bomb and didn't want more of their children to die. Nazi Germany learned their lesson from the world devasting their so-called "master race" and they also cared about their survival.

Muslims have been conquered time and again, but never learn their lesson. Their cult religion tells them it's a GOOD thing to die. To paraphrase a statesman about the Middle East, "When Muslims learn to love their children as much as they do death, then peace may be realized". There in lies the problem with Islam as opposed to other totalitarian regimes.

BTW, thank you for service. Viet Nam was a righteous war to stop communism until the politicians and media screwed it up. I've read much about the Tet offensive and even General Giap admitted that he was ready to fold after the failure of Tet until he continued to watched our media and hippies. It's in his memoirs - sure you've read it. Another waste of our boys.

I find it sad that communist Viet Nam and China are becoming more capitalist by the year while we head more towards socialism, with communism on our doorstep due to the takers. The world is laughing at us, even the French who have outlawed burques. Remember when we used to make fun of them for being "surrender monkeys". Now I have more respect for their fedgov than our own. Be well.

And Iraq is now within Iran’s orbit. What a waste.

"Islam is a cancer on the face of the earth. It’s being allowed to metastasize by an extremely weak western civilization."

Japan and Germany had well-developed civil societies and were not Islamic. Also, they had a vested interest in siding with the US and the West, as the only other alternative was Soviet enslavement. None of this was true of Iraq.

Hate to say it, but Iraq under Saddam was far more stable than this mess now.

We spent massive amounts of American blood and treasure... and for what?

4486 Americans died to give these people a chance.

Exactly. Muslims, being the chaotically violent, subhuman species they are, need powerful, iron-fisted rulers such as Saddam and Hafez Assad to keep some semblance of order and prevent them from destroying everything around them. Muslims don't understand participative governance... they understand brute force. It calms them and gives them a sense of security.

And also, we need to gain our independence from any resources in that region...it isn’t worth it.

I couldn't agree more. That region, and the muslims within it.. are not worth a single drop of American blood.

I would even go so far to say we should have let Saddam have Kuwait....Why do we get involved in intra-Arab squabbles, Kuwait was just an invention of British map makers anyway....And they did get caught red-handed “drinking Saddam’s milkshake.”

Wrong.

Do you understand the difference between “Arabs” and “Muslims”?

Sha’ab and Ur again. I spent quite a bit of time in those neighborhoods. Sha’ab is fairly dense urban, Ur has some urban but also a lot of open, undeveloped ground. Sha’ab is also kind of the ghetto. We always got harassed by Jaysh Al Mahdi out of Sadr City in there (they didn’t like to attack us in Sadr City since that’s where they lived).

Muslims run every Arab country, maybe Lebanon used to be Christian, but that’s not the case anymore.
