Britain has been forced to “silently acquiesce” to a European Union statement expressing “deep concern” over American spying and intelligence operations that have undermined trust between Europe’s governments.

Germany and France joined forces in the early hours of Friday morning to isolate Britain by demanding that United States sign a “code of conduct” with them and other EU countries to prevent American intelligence services spying on Europe. …

Following tense talks throughout Thursday night a Brussels summit on the conduct of US snooping operations, including accusations that Britain was spying on Italy, David Cameron was forced by 27 other European leaders to sign the common EU statement. …

France only exists because of the blood, treasure and good graces of Americans and Brits.....twice. So they can STFU.

Somebody needs to slap Merkel in the mouth and remind her again of why we have all those bases there.

Same goes for the rest of the eurotrash.

The pols in the US and UK need to grow a set.

All countries spy on all other countries as well as their own citizens.

The EU statement is akin to the Madam at a bordello expressing surprise that her employees are prostitutes.

The way the PM talked about Snowden’s leaks helping terrrorists (tapping Merkle’s phone helps terrorists?) pretty much gave away the fact that the British were in it with NSA.

They are not concerned about the spying. They are concerned that a 30 year old contractor had access to all this intelligence, could copy it to a thumb drive and then travel to Hong Kong.

We need to receive good intelligence on our allies, especially their relationship with our enemies; but need to concentrate on spying on our enemies, not just NSA style, but good old fashioned penetration by spies.

But when it comes to domestic spying, widespread listening into homes and businesses, my position is only with a court order based on probable cause.

That should help his party against Labour and UKIP. Wait, no it won't...

Cameron’s intent seems more to be helping Labour, of course. I’d say he’s counting on the Alinskyite EU elites to keep attempting to marginalize UKIP.

Massive area of a communications establishment at Menwith Hill, Yorkshire. Closely working with the American arm of intelligence. I read that at one time a group of the usual suspects demonstrated against its presence. Lots of jobs possibly involved and a local economy. They did not get anywhere though.

Worked at an extremely low level myself in the cold war era in GCHQ. Smiling, I would refer to the Mad Magazine and the cartoon titled "Spy vs Spy". Often think it is mostly a bunch of cloak and dagger stuff and just how much is vital ...... well who knows? (laughs).

If it were Bush’s Admin in charge, that fact would have been mentioned by the second sentence.

UKIP’s goal is success in getting elected to the EU parliament, which is an odd goal to have in a way — but could make them the cork in the dam.

DING! WINNER!! Fact is Germany, France, the UK and the rest of the Euro zone benefit as much from NSA's spying on its citizenry as the US Government does.

Further, anyone who THINKS that France, Germany, UK, etc.. all don't have spies in the US spying on US is kidding themselves.

All this is, is faux outrage for the purpose of placating their own citizens. Lord knows the socialists in Europe no doubt buy it when their leaders say "we're not spying on you, the U.S. is!" Complete, utter bovine fecal matter.

I've been to Europe (UK, France, Germany, Belgium.) You can't hardly walk or drive ANYWHERE without some video camera watching your every move.

The only thing that could really disrupt the EU (aside from a UKIP-type majority voting “no” to every Commission diktat) is a similar-minded person being appointed as a commissioner and circumventing his oath to go against his home land and being for the EU in all things.
