Declines to Say Whether Network Is Getting Payment

Al Jazeera America will become available to Time Warner Cable subscribers in the next few months, the companies said Thursday.

Al Jazeera America will be available on the digital basic tier in Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks markets, including New York City, Los Angeles and Dallas over the next six months, the companies said in a joint statement.

"We said in January that we would consider Al Jazeera America," said Melinda Witmer, exec VP-chief video and content officer, Time Warner Cable, in the statement. "Now that the channel is live, we think that it would be of value to our customers and are pleased to make it available."

Comcast carries it.

I really have to figure out the parental control feature to remove remove it from my TV, along with those darn foreign language channels.

Why not recruit in Afganistan amongst the Tliban for news anchors or perhaps in Iraq and find an Al Qaeda news anchor? Welcome to the Twilight Zone of Liberal Insanity.

DirecTV has had it for a couple of months, I have yet to turn it on. Not sure what channel it is. Easy to ignore, like the homo channel, BET, Oprah, MTV, CNN MSNBC etc... That all spout liberal garbage, and praise Obama 24/7.

DirecTV moved it to 347 so that it would be the FIRST channel to appear on your news sub-menu.

No bias there, eh?

Al Jazeera gets paid whether anyone watches or not. Each channel gets a fee per subscriber. If you have cable that carries Al Jazeera, you are paying Al Jazeera.

The only way to not pay them is to cut your cable.

The customer service department at TW can block any channel you request and substitute something else. Sometimes you even get a discount. I did that when I wanted the Fox Business Channel. I gave up something that we never wanted and got a small discount in exchange.

I’ll ask for money back if they try to force Al Jazeera on me.

They can’t be any worse than MSNBC. Probably have higher journalistic standards to boot.

The nice thing about Directv is that once can select favorite channels to watch. I exclude it along with all of the infomercial channels.

Al Jazeera America finds it easier to get exposure than did Fox in its day.
