Report: Aldon Smith got favorable treatment from Santa Clara cops

Though 49ers pass rusher Aldon Smith is hardly having an easy time of things these days -- he's still away indefinitely from football -- a report claims that the Santa Clara police provided the defensive lineman with favorable treatment when he was arrested.

NBC Bay Area uncovered records that show Smith, after being booked on suspicion of driving under the influence at 9:40 a.m. PT, was released at 11:20 a.m. PT, a mere 1.5 hours later.

Smith enjoyed an expedited trip through the Santa Clara County Jail, according to court records and information uncovered by the NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit, and was released several hours earlier than standard procedure is supposed to allow.

An anonymous deputy told NBC Bay Area -- on camera no less -- that the handling of Smith's arrest "did not follow typical jail protocols and procedures." That deputy and other "jail staffers" said typically people arrested on such chargers are held for somewhere between five and eight hours.

About a year after Smith had multiple shootings -- and was stabbed himself -- at a June 29, 2012 party at his house, he attended a fundraiser at the sheriff's shooting range.

On Saturday, June 15, Aldon Smith and several of his 49er teammates were among those invited to a fundraiser at the sheriff's shooting range, to raise money for the non-profit Sheriff's Advisory Board.

In Santa Clara county, if you have the right connections, a gun criminal can play with the Sheriff’s armory all he wants, but law abiding citizens can’t get a CCW.

1. “At the time, Smith blew a .151, nearly twice the legal limit, according to jail records.

2. “Smith had multiple shootings — and was stabbed himself — at a June 29, 2012 party at his house”

Karma has a way of catching up to people who behave like this................Also “Smith had multiple shootings” shouldn’t that have been written Smith “was involved in” multiple shootings? Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine.

He’s an accident looking for a place to happen.

Sheriff Laurie , if you want to know how over-paid&talented brats live, you picked a good one.

He’ll look real good on your next election poster.

A lot of LEOs and confinement facilities give special treatment to celebs and public figures...not so much for the arrested’s status...but so to not dsrupt the jail or take away manpower from other areas. Also....reality is that rich folks have the resources to sue...
