Experts stunned at cost for Healthcare.gov website development
My FOX-TV DC ^ | October 22, 2013

“My overall sense, right from day one, was it was created by people who had never created a commercial database application before," said FMS Software developer Luke Chung.

Chung looked over the site and was stunned by the code and the cost - by some estimates, perhaps $200 million.

Chung continued, “At $200 an hour, that would be a million man hours, 5,000 man years. I don't think they had time to use 5,000 man years. So I don't know where the money went. I don't know what these people were doing. There're not that many web pages. I don't get it! Where'd the money go?"

I know people who work in the health insurance industry, CGI has long been a laughing-stock. People who work in health-IT know that you couldn’t trust CGI to competently create a Facebook status update.

CGI got a no-bid contract because they donated to the Obama campaign. Unfortunately this will most likely not be reported about in the MSM, and no question about this will ever be asked in the White House briefing room or at a Presidential press conference.

Damn those extremist Republicans whose government shut-down caused all these problems!

I don’t think it was all code alone. There were probably hardware purchases, new telco drops and software licensing fee’s involved as well. But yeah, this one has a stink on it that isn’t going away anytime soon.

The more money they say they need to " fix it " the more we know it really has problems and will not be able to fix.
When you look at it ? it might be just a slush fund.
Congress really needs to investigate just where all that money really went.

Great point. Agencies no long just execute the programs, they define them and serve as their own watchdogs. That is exactly what is going on.

You remember during the last election how we were told the Democrats had such great voter tracking and contact software? How it was much better and more high tech than anybody had ever seen before? How people were saying, Wow where did that come from, must have cost a fortune. Remember that?

Where is the new “fix” money coming from? They might need another $200 million or so because this is not going to be a one-time fix. There will be remediation work and then ongoing system maintenance and “enhancements” that will essentially be never ending. What is the source for this new money?

I wondered the same thing.

How many of the obamacare website programmers were paid by CGI but REALLY worked on his re-election campaign database project instead?

How much of the obamacare website money really ended up IN his election campaign coffers instead.

" Where is the new “fix” money coming from? "

That " fix money " for that website will be given to Obama's cronies without us knowing about it, that's for sure.

A million man-hours equals 5,000 man-years? Must be nice to have a job where you only work 200 hours a year.

raised debt ceiling to infinity and 1st day borrowed 350 billion dollars? WTF?

There is something fishy going on here and it is not just emanating from Hillary's under-thingies!

It would make a good career for an Independent Prosecutor to follow the money and prosecute the perps who are stealing it. It would take a professional lifetime.

I would love to see all the people who were “paid” to develop this. Probably a cornucopia of Obama friends and other oddballs.
Maybe some actually know how to write code?

“Where’d the money go?”

To Obama’s cronies and supporters.

Next question?

The Program was written by “seasoned Obama political campaign IT operatives.”

I am far more interested to know what trojans they hid in those 5 million lines of code than where the money went. The moneys been stolen by pros and we are not getting it back but the code can cause serious problems going forward as it's been written from the perspective of being a political tool, not a health care provision system.

Kind of like the rest of ObamaCare.
