Story To Share About Obamacare and Disability
Myself | 10/18/2013

Posted on 10/18/2013 12:19:26 AM PDT by My Favorite Headache

I wanted to share a quick story about something that happened in our household today and 3 days ago with a friend of mine as well of 23 years.

My wife is on permanent disability for the remainder of her life due to a number of health reasons from on and off cancer battles to other sustained health issues that prevent her from working. My friend Cory injured himself on the job a few years ago breaking his back, right knee, and shoulder. Both have been getting around $1,000.00 a month in disability.

My wife puts that money towards the various needs in her life whether they were meds or other daily and weekly needs. I have my own income from my job that provides for the household and our family. Cory on the other hand went from making $4,600.00 a month to $1,000.00 a month and had been as well paying medical costs out of pocket while scraping by to get through each month.

A letter came in today stating that my wife's disability was being cut by $200.00 a month to pay for a mandatory medicare payment every month. They also said they will review her past income again to see whether or not even MORE will have to be taken out and that it was a "possibility".

Cory's letter stated that he was having his disability check cut by $161.00 to put him on Medicare as well. Cory works with independent therapists, natural therapy, and chiropractors who take cash and work off of payment plans with him taking small payments per-visit knowing his limited income. He is on disability for 3 years until further review. Now the money that used to go towards paying his phone bill and water bill....is gone.

In the case of my wife she was under my insurance originally and when I switched companies the Cobra was too much coming off Blue Cross/Blue Shield at 1,200.00 a month for the family so we too have been cash patients. I don't mind her going on Medicare for her disability and paying into the system mainly because I am here as a back up in fiscal support for her if need be. But then they started adding in more money that would be taken out for prescription plans A B C and D. Each one was a different amount.

For those people who live alone, depend on the amount that they have had coming in to pay their bills or are like Cory....they are screwed. Being forced to pay for the healthcare and slashing their already small amount of disability they get (my wife is 32 and Cory is 41)they only paid into the system since age 16.

The letters are arriving and I have been reading on different forums all night and people are flipping out with talks of eviction, selling everything they own, and even some talking suicide because although it is not them going on ACA it is the exact off shoot of mandatory payment being taken from you whether you like it or not.

The stories and landscape is about to change drastically as these letters go out to tens of millions over the next week or two.

Methinks a huge dam is about to burst that we have never seen before and it isn't going to be pretty.

Bill Ayres said his revolution may cost 25 million lives, this is how it is done. Sarah Palin told everyone about death panels and gov’t refusing to pay for care, it’s no conspiracy theory it is reality.

This kind of control of the masses is what the marxist want.

“ObamaCare strips $760 billion out of Medicare over 10 years.”

No, Obamacare triple spends money that was already double spent from the non-existent “trust fund”, moving up the date of its artificial “bankruptcy”. (It is already bankrupt but continues paying until the money that was stolen, minus the Obamacare double theft, has been replaced from general tax receipts.)

“if they were actually of Medicare age....65...would they still have to deduct more from their disability?...or is it just because they’re relative young?....I have relatives that are on disability but their older....wonder if it will affect them too....”

I’m pretty sure about this, because I’ve been involved it it for decades.

Once a person that is on SS disability reaches 65, they go off SS disability and on regular SS. The person that is SS disability under the age of 65 is eligible for medicare. Their medicare doesn’t change once they reach 65.

As I understand it, people on SS and medicare are not eligible for obamacare.

I know this because my spouse was on SS disability prior to her 65th birthday. Now she is not...

We have a good percentage of the military and a majority of the veterans, preppers and outdoorsmen over on this side. Martial law only works when you have adequate “martial” (military) to handle the populace. The FEMA headquarters for this region of the United States is so close to me that they could send a guy with a wheelbarrow or wagon to come get me, yet I fear them not.

There might be small pockets of "resistance". As a whole, though, the country will slip into the night with an "meh..."

All the bluster about fighting back, revolution/civil war, etc is just that...bluster. Our fore fathers revolted against the most powerful empire on the planet for WAY less than what even the ardent patriot endures on a daily basis, today. If the bluster was true, then you, I, or someone else would have taken a brick and thrown it through the nearest government office, or political party window a long time ago.

I may be the killjoy here, but half of the people now on disability are on it fraudulently and a majority of the remainder could do some kind of work.

E.g., can they type? Can they speak? If so, they can do customer service or clerical work from home, let alone if they can go in to an office to be a receptionist or whatever.

Providing people a full, comfortable, free living for life—or even over years to recover from injury—from “the government” is a massive moral hazard IMO. Those who are left in legitimate need can be covered by charity, where the checks work better.

Also, without such a guaranteed government safety net, many folks would cover themselves with private disability insurance, which is the only system by which people in their 20s through 40s have legitimately “paid into” to be covered should something tragic happen.

My mom’s been living off of $700 a month with her disability check. (She almost died seven years ago and hasn’t been the same since. Now she’s going blind with macular degeneration.)

She got her letter last week. They’re taking out $104 in Medicaid payments, plus they’ve changed her prescription coverage. Now, the only medicine they’ll cover is her potassium. NOTHING ELSE. She’s going to be out more than $100 for her medications.

She just lost 30% of all that she had. She hasn’t been using the EBT card (they won’t take it back), but now she won’t have a choice. (They were only giving her $35 a month, anyway.) I just got her a cellphone and I’ll pay for that with our family’s phones.

I am disabled, been for several years, finally filed for SS + disability at 63. At 65 went on Medicare, payment is deducted now automatically, with the individual costs at about $200 for the package. Will go up each month (G package the least). But if you go Medicare Advantage plans, there is no deduction from your payments.

People need to set down with an independent agent and really review the plans.

She’s been trying for the last two months to get help. They keep kicking her from one office to another and she’s totally lost. She can’t even figure out where to go to get help and advice. (She’s not internet savvy)

After some serious digging I found the resources for seniors in Virginia.

First, the easiest. Dial 211. That’s it. Tell them your problem and they’ll get you where you need to go.

Second, the vda.
http://www.vda.virginia.gov/aboutus.asp

Third, through the VDA, there’s the ‘no wrong door’ program.
http://www.vda.virginia.gov/nowrongdoor.asp

Forth, Viginia’s easy access.
http://www.easyaccess.virginia.gov/

AT NO POINT has ANYONE told her about these resources. One person stubbornly thought that she was trying to sign up for healthcare.gov and ushered her out with reassurances that this wouldn’t be a real problem for months. She kept trying to explain that that wasn’t her problem. That she was transitioning from Medicaid to Medicare in a few weeks and she had to get it straightened out.

Another person told her that they couldn’t help her until she actually turned 65. She has to get a shot in her eyeball a few days after that. What insurance will she have? They didn’t know. (This was a person who told her that she was looking for trouble by being proactive.)

She needs low-income housing. They told her that SHE had to find all of the low-income housing apartments in the city and put herself on all the lists. She actually tracked down four of them. Not ONE answered her calls. She drove to each of them. One was abandoned, one’s office was permanently closed, one told her that they were no longer low-income, and one put her on their list (3 year wait). The one that put her on the list simply wrote her name and number on a piece of paper and sent her on her way. She was asking, “What income verification do you need? Are there subsidies for this housing and who do I apply with? Don’t you need to see proof that I’m even a resident? What’s the process to qualify for this housing?” The woman waved her off without an answer.

My mother is disabled. She’s partially blind, easily exhausted, easily confused, easily lost and NOBODY is helping her. I’m on the other side of the continent.

This is so frustrating!

No power on Earth could fight a million armed citizens, much less jail them. ----------------------------------------------------------- It appears you are not very creative.. The next concentration camps will be "GHETTOS"... People bunched together voluntarily.. Makes them easier to control that way.. with less guards.. In a ghetto it is easy to control what goes in and what come out.. You know.... like water, food, toilet paper, drugs, ammo, serin, tear gas, etc.. ----------------------------------------------------------

That’s what I think too. She was originally under my Blue Cross Blue Shield when she first went on disability and then when I went to a new company they said she could apply for Medicare in 17 months.

That’s mere openers for what “THEY” have planned..
Starting point is admitting there even “IS” a “THEY”..
“THEY” have been working on this for a hundred years..

T.Roosevelt was a progressive and Newt BRAGS about being one..

Short of Civil War I see no other way out of this mess..
Succession seems to be the only way.. Mark Levin has opened the/this conversation..

He doesnt advocate succession but that is the end result..
the liberals will ONLY release power from their cold... dead... hands..

Obama is OBVIOUSLY jockeying to cause insurrection.. he WANTS IT.. is doing everthing he CAN to stimulate it..
IMO.... He WILL have it..

In a country as spread-out and large as ours is, that would be especially difficult unless forced. I always come back to the same question when people like you postulate all these things the dictators will do. Who will disarm the population and how? Answer me that and the rest falls together. But if you can’t, all the conspiracy theories in the world fall apart.

Just having a gun/firearm/weapon does not mean you have the balls to use it..
in my experience most DO NOT.. will not.. and would die before using them..
They just want them for a threat.. but would NOT KILL..

Overlooking “authorities” intimidating your family.. instead of you.. i.e. children, wives, relatives.

The bad guys(authorities) KNOW THAT... you do NOT..
They come in the middle of the night.. you see.. bedtime..
Most(conservatives) would never SHOOT the authorities..
even wearing Nazi uniforms..

Democrats do not believe in LAW...

It's not always about "guns" anyhow. There are thousands of ways to inflict harm and death on a human without a firearm:

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

True.. that could happen but there needs to be an underground..
THERE ISN’T ONE...

Maybe 20 years ago it could have been .. BUT not currently..
A brain washed public elected Obama...... TWICE..
They have NOW what they think they need..

Most do not know the Coup D’Etat has ALREADY HAPPENED..
Well at least they will not ADMIT IT..
