Alan Grayson: Tea Party ‘Largest Suicide Pact in History,’ ‘No More Popular Than the Klan’

Democratic congressman Alan Grayson is a very colorful man, and in keeping with that reputation, during an appearance on Al Sharpton‘s MSNBC show Thursday, he said the tea party is just about as popular as the KKK and compared John Boehner to Dr. Jekyll, among other things.

Grayson joined Sharpton in bashing the tea party, saying Americans want them out of their lives and “at this point, the tea party’s no more popular than the Klan.”

This is not the first time Grayson had made this comparison, saying in 2010 that the attendees of Glenn Beck‘s big rally were “wearing sheets over their heads 25 years ago.”

Grayson predicted that the GOP is a dying party, “on its way out” like the Whigs were. He told Sharpton they “want to bring about the end of days” and cause utter “destruction” like “the largest suicide pact in history.” Grayson said it’s time to vote out tea partiers they’re not doing anything useful for the benefit of the country.

But it’s not just the tea partiers who need to go in Grayson’s mind, John Boehner needs to join them. He called the House Speaker a “short-order cook for the far-right wing,” and saying that the “useless” Boehner used to be Dr. Jekyll and now he’s morphed into Mr. Hyde.

The Tea Party movement grew in spite of them because of our own media channels, not because Maddow or Morgan said something.

I agree. But yesterday's special election results in NJ and the fact that so called "moderates" like John McCain feel it's safe to be name calling average Americans who want nothing but fiscal responsibility from our government tells me there is room for improvement in the PR department.

I have faith that Ted Cruz will be able to handle such attacks. He needs our support.

I thought it was the Democrats who were aborting themselves out of existence, not the Tea Party. Now there’s a suicide pact for you!

I am putting Rep Grayson and his staff on notice. If, while attending a Tea Party or Overpass for Impeachment rally I am physically assaulted in any way and there is the slightest indication the perpetrator was influenced by Grayson’s outrageous remarks, I will file suit against Mr. Grayson personally on the grounds of vicarious liability. This legal maneuver, most ironically, was successfully used by the SPLC and NAACP against White supremacist John Metzger in a racially motivated murder case. I tried to contact this j@rk-off via his website, but couldn’t. The gutless wonder only accepts communications from constituents within his distrct
