Why Health Insurance is Skyrocketing
10/17/13 | Originalbuckeye

I have been trying to figure out why the Government regulations are being required of the insurance companies. Why make them cover say maternity costs for all women, including those over fifty? I think I have the explanation. By the health insurance skyrocketing for all, people will be forced to pay and accept higher costs associated with medical care. That way, when the inevitable single payer system is implemented, the citizenry will not feel as much pain as they would have when every working person's Federal taxes go up 10% to pay for healthcare for all.

People have no idea what is in the offing. Doctors in Connecticut are being fired/laid off and patients will instead be cared for by nurse practitioners and regular nurses only. They are educated and competent caregivers, but they haven't been through medical school. The people in this country have been spoiled by having the best medical care in the world. That is already not the case anymore. And paying another 10% to the Government for care will be a disaster.

The insurance companies sold out to obamacare. They are more than happy that the government requires old people pay for coverage not needed.

I never had a problem as a women paying more for insurance to cover pregnancies while I was “fertile”.
Of course I use more services just on pregnancy alone.

Actually, I think he does. Keep in mind that his goal is to destroy private health insurance. Once that goal is achieved, the only thing left will be the government and single payer.

Since when is it the insurance Co.’s to refuse to do business because a minority of the population dislikes what the democratically elected govt. has mandated. The insurance Co.’s merely are following the laws and regs as they are written to try to keep a viable business. Try your class warfare elsewhere.

It’s working, even 1/2 the people on FR complain about the insurance companies. Obama will have the whole country screaming about evil insurers soon enough and people will cheer when he puts everyone on (single-payer) medicaid.

Uh, the insurance companies made sure the laws and regs were written to their benefit ...

It is not my job to pay for your aspirin.

It is really silly these days that people demand others pay for what they want yet will not earn themselves.

That a$$hat has never had a boss, managed a budget, solved a problem, led a team or even effort, been accountable for employees, or even had a REAL job. To suggest he has the foggiest idea about how ANY business runs is a farce. The only thing he knows about capitalism, entrepreneurialism and the free market he learned from the likes of Alynski and Carl Marx. I'd bet my life savings he's never actually read the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence. I have my doubts about whether or not he actually earned any degrees.

I guess what I am saying is.... I agree with you.

Yes, I am sure it would have been done much better if the govt. had had some landscapers and and lab technicians write it up instead. Do you truly think insurance regs should be written by people who have no connection with insurance companies?

He may succeed in destroying private health insurance as we know it.

But he will probably not be able to totally destroy the free market.

And as long as the free market exists, new markets can be created to replace what we once knew as “private health insurance.”

I know this might sound too optimistic. But it’s true.

"Spoiled?" Really? Is that what you call it when you've been purchasing a product at a fair price?

Unlike you, I don’t believe that Obamacare laws should have ever been written.

It is way past time to stop pretending that Obama is just a likable black skinned Jimmy Carter - a well meaning bumbler who just doesn’t grasp the complexities of his job.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Obama is a psychotic, racist, ultra-left ideologue hell bent on destroying America and remaking it into some simplistic socialist utopia.

He told the world he wanted to fundamentally change America.
More Americans should have asked what he meant by that before blindly supporting him.

Seems you’d prefer these companies should just fold up rather than follow the new rules? Can you explain such a stance? Can you tell me what % of profit on their premiums you’d consider excessive?

I’m not sure you are on the right site. You seem to begrudge a business a profit when it suits you. Presumably you’ve been emplyed, so, when you receive your paycheck do you hand it over to charity? I’d hate to think you were keeping it and being hypocritical by profiting.
