Friend, to what hast thou become?

Someone commented on a different thread that Republican Senator Mitch McConnell (KY) ought "fall on his sword." ...

I suppose that is one way to phrase the sentiment. I have different idea as to what should be done with this man, and his traitorous cohorts - but then again, I do not want to get kicked off this forum, so I shall constrain my remarks to the following opinions ...

Will somebody here on FR please provide a rational argument as to why I should remain a Republican? I will always be a conservative - both fiscal AND social; however, why should I bother with giving my further participation in, or association with, a party that repeatedly demonstrates itself the fraudulent endeavor of political charlatans and outright Quislings? Why must I facilitate even a modicum of support and thus continue to empower this farce? I might just as well place a revolver to my head and pull the trigger - the end result would not be much different, but only the time to get there ... It is merely a matter of how many levels of depravity I would choose to descend through before the "coup de grace" is administered!

There is a systemic rot that permeates the GOP ... And it infects the entire body politic. I see no one within the power-structure of this "Party" of whom I could unflinchingly call honorable - let alone consider any of them a "man" on any level. By their actions, they prove themselves cowardly eunuchs!

I am told (ad nausium) that my obligation is required so to persevere through the storm - and "win the next election." My dear fellows, please excuse my cynicism ... But, from my point of view, I suspect we are all being played as pawns in a diabolical deception. It seems (to me, at least) convincingly apparent that the we who cherish classical liberty (that form where true justice and an objective moral code prevail) are the recipients of a twisted joke. We are subjected to a series of predetermined outcomes, the goals of which are now patently obvious: total dependency and subservience to a central power, its operations and machinations having no discernable difference from that defunct and supposed cultural and political opposite that was Soviet empire. America's future is very much unfolding not as the result of chance electoral process, but rather as the result of "back-room" dealings, the object of which is to affect an "new" New Order, but one that has no semblance to constitutional self governance on any level. I further suspect that such infamous gatherings are accomplished with the clandestine participation of both Democrat and Republican "bosses." (Note: I will not call these traitors "leaders," for they deserve no recognition that may be construed to convey a title of honor.)

I make this statement for reason of my continued - and "as of yet to be disproven" observation that we never stray far off the tracks that lead to certain death for this great venture in self-governance. The train may be governed by a different crew ... The train may slow or stop for a short reprieve ... The thing may even appear to reverse itself - but NEVER does it jump the rails to follow different route than where the tracks allow its drivers to traverse. The scenery may change - but the route destination remains constant - communism. "We the People" are locked in a string of rail cars - oh, some are fancy Pullman's, some are of the lesser "economy" coach variety, and others are the salons of hobos, whose only desire is to maintain their free ride by rail hopping the box cars ... Yet, whatever comfort level our passage may be, we are all stuck on the same train - and each served the same socialistic menu in various flavors. The only "change" is a matter of which crew of political conductors will stamp our tickets at the next "station." We are governed by a perpetual ruling class of political sycophants and narcissistic tyrannical sociopaths, who are apparently "elected" by a thoroughly seduced populace, too enthralled with the scenery to notice that the ride eventually terminates in a death plunge over a cliff.

It is not that I would be a Democrat (Marxist), but I truly no longer see the point of supporting the GOP, or any of its incarnations - all of which seem either powerless or else indifferent to bother with tearing up up the tracks and affecting a true and measureable change in national direction ... And in fact, many tirelessly work to ensure we remain on this unwavering course that leads to the" ash pit of history."

I am now wondering whether the united States of America shall go out with a bang, or fade away with a whimper? Note well that I do not give you a positive option; and that is because, following this latest betrayal by the "Party of Lincoln," I am firmly convinced that we are finished as a nation ... Only a corpse remains, and that will soon rot into a feted mass of socialist decay.

I am not a coward, for I would rather sacrifice my life than surrender to the Quislings; but cowardice and self-serving dishonesty are the only two attributes I see within the Republican establishment. I am of no mind to be associated with such a wretchedly unscrupulous "good-old-boys" club of cutthroats. Is there any principle of limited government these political opportunists will not betray? With their apparent total surrender of fiscal control to the Marxist tyrant - a wicked servant who will use this new but unconstitutional power to unapologetically ransack, pillage and rape our nation - the GOP "bosses" have now given over completely our formerly constitutional Republic. They have sold out the American Republic - lock, stock and barrel - to an inevitable Communist dictatorship. Christmas came early this year, and the GOP played their part as a child-molesting Santa "Claws" - Prove me wrong.

That seems a reasonable course of action - and I can well imagine that a shock wave of nuclear proportions would ripple across this nation if well-known conservatives such as Limbaugh, Levin, Palin, etc ... were to announce such plans - and officially cut ties with the GOP. Time will tell how many are willing to do this.

The operative phrase, IMO, at this point in time is RESISTANCE - in whatever non-violent form one can muster ... I would suggest a national tax strike, but my sense is that few have the moral courage take this course, as it means traveling a long and very hard road.

For me, it comes down to whether I desire to experience pain at level 9 or at level 100+

I suppose each individual needs to decide which is more important - their personal possessions and comforts, or the preservation of this nation for their posterity. We should take our cues from those who signed the Declaration of Independence ... IIRC, not one of them escaped unscathed.

Real freedom, not license, requires genuine sacrifice - up to and including an untimely demise at the hands of tyrants.

Why should we think ourselves so privileged as to escape this hardship? Are we better than any previous generation who went before us having to make the same irrevocable choice?

I understand your point, but I can only “speak for myself” on this - I have always been one to tell my representatives this line of rebuke:

“Sir! I did not send you to Washington, D.C. so to bring me home Yogi’s picnic basket of goodies ... I sent you there to STOP the bleeding. Don’t come to me with stolen goods and a sly grin, and expect me to show you gratitude! For such dubious acts, I only give you my contempt - and the firm promise that I will never again trust my liberty to your care.”

well too bad the RAT Willard Romney helped Obama TWICE
to win.
the first time he had his Team destroy the Palin family.
the second time he had his Team and Marriot destroy
every conservative.

Romney is the ONLY reason Obama is Tyrant, now.

I cannot tell you what to do. I am looking for a third party to join myself.

The RINO Republicans can kiss my ass, to the others I hope they also join the third party when it forms./

Here is the rational “positive” argument, per your request:
If you wish to promote conservative policies through government, you should become extremely active in your local Republican Party and work your way into a position of influence. Take over the Republican Party from within, and change it into an effective conservative juggernaut, rather than an empty, leaderless, self-serving exponent of Big Gubmint Lite.

Here is the rational “negative” argument: A purely conservative third party cannot win national elections right now. By supporting no party or a third party, you will feel better about yourself, but division of any voting bloc to the right of communists guarantees victory for the leftists (remember how Ross Perot put Billary Clinton into office). The US will collapse sooner, but you might not be sent to the death camps in the first wave. They will need time to dig up your old voting records.

May the ‘distinguished gentleman Mr. McConnell’, go for a leisurely stroll near a lovely wooded area of his State, where by Divine appointment, a particular critter of Biblical lowliness happens to be about, elects to stand its ground and impart its own affection, towards the illustrious gentleman.

I can think of no reason you should stay in the Dem-lite party. Your thoughts were well stated and you have obviously been doing some soul searching.

I have to keep my comments short right now, because in my current mood, I would probably get in some trouble with our “watchers” in the government for what I would really like to say.

About the best reason to remain a registered Republican, or, at least, a supporter of Republicans is still the clear and present danger presented by the Progressive Left in total control of the Democrat franchise.

Another reason is, the Hastert Rule notwithstanding, the number of Republican House members who voted against that steaming pile of CR last night outnumbered those who did.

Another reason for hope, perhaps, is not-so-long-ago history, when the Progressives and their media cohorts were not so much censoring "the other side," they did not believe there was any "other side."

Ronald Reagan changed that, and the Internet echos that change even now.

The fight must be carried down to the local level, and we must abandon all illusions of "media" respect. We are the media now, much like it was before newspaper chains.

You can raise more money but you can't raise more time. Every day that passes going into the next two election cycles is more valuable than the one before. Small efforts now can snowball and crest on election day.

Prayer, and love of the truth, warts and all, should never be our last resort.

How about taking cover under a strong God.

As well as recommending the whole GOP do the same.

Even Democrats are welcome, if they dare.
