OK, please educate me here--

How can this even be happening, constitutionally, when all fiscal bills MUST ORIGINATE in the House?

This has been discussed a hundred times. Do your own research.

the media and Obama have been lying about that not raising the debt limit will result in default

there is NO RISK OF DEFAULT.

keep the gov shut down and do NOT raise the debt ceiling. call R's tell them to hold the line

the media has been lying saying Armageddon will happen Oct 17 if the debt limit is not raised. that is a big lie. the media lied. Obama lied. Reid lied.

we have to call and email Republicans and tell them not to believe the media lies. what is the capital switchboard or their emails or phone numbers?

..if this passes
..this latest so-called “agreement” is flawed from the beginning....the INCOME VERIFICATION will never be enforced as long as ODUNGO AND HOLDER are in charge.....their people will still steal from the taxpayer.
There was an article yesterday that said a newspaper out in CA was telling people to purposely falsify their applications to take advantage of subsidies... nothing will be done.
EX-ACORN people working now for Odungo will see to it....

I don’t know for sure. But I think maybe technically, if the House votes first, then technically they would say that the House originated the bill.

Hopefully someone else who knows how this is legal can educate all of us.

I haven't seen a bill in either chamber, yet. All the talk seems to be the media anticipating what they think may happen.

Shell bill, filled with the Senate’s language, just like how they rammed Obamacare through.

Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974
Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985.
Budget Enforcement Act of 1990.
Balanced Budget Act of 1997.
Budget Control Act of 2011.

Yep, one more “act” ought to do it.

Congress violates most of the Constitution mutiple times a day.

I doubt one more law is going to have them returning to federalism. 95 % of them need a good ass kicking.

Then why would anyone not try for the subsidy? Best way yet to wreck the nobamacare train. Everybody get on for free!

The GOP has caved...

Senate leaders reached last-minute agreement Wednesday to avert a threatened Treasury default and reopen the government

Congress violates most of the Constitution mutiple times a day.

And yet Americans are neglecting their (our) duty to correct this. Either we need to go down in flames, or we need to rise up in flames.

Once again the republicants agree to kick the can down the road for a handful of empty promises.

This is what happens when the House Republicans/conservatives can’t stick together and agree on something. We get the Senate bill which is a total cave. The House could have produced something yesterday that would at least have been better than the Reid/McConnell bill, but it sounds like we have some “all or nothing” holdouts that just have no clue how tactics and strategy work.

In the end, it appears we’ve accomplished nothing but weaken the conservative position and make it harder to pick up seats in 2014.

Good going guys!

Eventually I expect a John Roberts-led SCOTUS to toss the Origination Clause, saying it has become irrelevant now that Senators are directly elected.
