Step back for a moment and consider the political implications of a US govt default vs. 0bama's standing among the media and in turn, the low-info voters.
Consider that everything 0bama has ever done is always political. The advancement of his party and ideology of a state that "requires" people being told what is in their best interest.
There is absolutely NO RISK for 0bama (politically) to preside over a US default.
Do you think he is going to fold ?
Why should he ?
Do you think he actually cares about America ?
Do you think he cares about his "Legacy" ?
The media has his back.
This is the biggest opportunity to seize control, an opportunity that may never come around again.
The opportunity to send the entire global economy into turmoil. Send millions of people into the arms of the Government.

I know it was a quick answer. But I wanted to illustrate the point that the US is so big and complex that things like martial law and private asset seizure are going to be impossible.
I mean, how many truckers are going to be willing to drive food into the cities when the government takes their assets? How many farm workers are going to be willing to work the fields after the government takes their assets?
There just aren’t enough Federal gun-carriers to he able to make it work. The cities - Obamas base - will go up in flames and there’ll be mass starvation. State and local police will focus on protecting the ‘burbs while the National Guard gets called up and with the active duty military and Federal law enforcement gets sent into the cities. Not enough gun carriers to compel truckers and farmers to do their jobs too.
