Muslim families in Montgomery County are pushing to make the Islamic holy day Eid al-Adha a full-fledged school holiday.
Muslim leaders have started a petition in recent weeks and have won support from some elected leaders and religious groups. Montgomery County has a growing Islamic population, though there are no county or census figures on the Muslim community.
This year, the Eid al-Adha holiday falls on Tuesday. Some families plan to keep their children home from school, even though they will miss classes and sporting events. But they point out that school is closed for Christmas, Good Friday, Easter and for the Jewish holidays Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
“It’s like we don’t feel equal to other people who get their holidays off,” said Hannah Sharim, 14, who is a sophomore at Northwest High School in Germantown.
Former state legislator and co-chair of the new Equality for Eid Coalition Saqib Ali said this is a civil rights issue.

The funny part about it is that if a Catholic parent wanted to keep his kids out of school for those holidays, they'd have an unexcused absence.
The schools already have a policy in place to not schedule important events on their "holidays" -- and to grant an excused absence. In other words, preferential treatment.
When Monkey County grants this benefit to the muzzies, they will push for the next thing (private prayer rooms -- one for the boys and one for the girls) so their little darlings can pray during the day as they are supposed to.
And to have all the food in the school to be sacrificed to idols halal.
And to change the dress code to be Shariah compliant.
And, in the name of sensitivity, the Monkey County school board will go with each and every one of the requests.
My kind of thinking. I’m working on a Constiutional amendment to bring back Christian and patriotic holidays the way they used to be celebrated, and well, muslims will have to just put up with it in the USA, along with war-on-terror intel gathering.
Oh, and it includes demolishing or preventing a Ground Zero mosque or any other pro-terrorism mosques.

I want a government that will keep them out and eject all that are here already.
Once Yom Kippur was recognized by school systems where Jews are less than 10% of the population this became inevitable. And it will never end. Soon every religion will be clamoring for “respect”.
Do you see Buddhists, Hindus, and/or others as pushy?
Are these same moooooooslems going to honor other religions’ holy days? Just as I thought, I don’t think so.

I would grant them a day off for Eid, except it would be the same day as Christmas.
Or if it absolutely has to be a new day off, then the muslims and other pagans could just celebrate on Beltane, the satanic high holiday. The Christians could spend their time off in church praying for the pagan’s souls.
We Christians can’t have Easter or Christmas why should the mussies get a holiday? Let them go to their own schools if they want that.
Back in the day when I was in Baltimore City public school (and the schools were actually pretty good back then), all the Jewish kids would be out for Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kippur. But they never pushed to make these official school holidays.

Me too. There's one guy who is all these things, and he needs flushed out of our White House.
This stuff is up to the individual communities. My town has a high concentration of Jews. We have always had Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur off. It’s not because we are all Jews. It’s because 30% of the kids would not be in school.
If the communities have a high percentage of kids that would not be in school—and they are willing to start that much earlier—it wouldn’t bother me.
If there are like 5% of the students! it would not be worth it.

No one should beef or wonder why we have terrorism on our own soil while these subhumans are here.
I am convinced and trying to convince others these mongrels will take down a school next.
Besides the drug war, they are another primary reason the police are training in military tactics.
