The original photo in this news story showed Black people with blurred out faces loading up shopping carts.

That picture is gone.

Now they just have a photo of stripped bare shelves.

My gut tells me that the book section is pretty much intact as well.

That was TWO HOURS of a computer glitch. Store shelves stripped bear.

Essentially Walmart allowed looting rather than risk a riot in their store.

The ‘prepper nuts’ are seeming quite reasonable these days.

The local outlet contacted the state of Louisiana and was informed that the Walmart would eat the cost for any amount charged beyond what the ‘purchase’ card limit.

This means there are hundreds of felony theft / shoplifting cases the local DA can now likely ignore due to politics.

Walmart makes 25-40% of its money apparently from EBT. So just part of the cost of business. Pass the cost on to the cash customers.

Casa Blanca will probably announce it has cured the great recession by stimulating the economy thus way. Just look. Walmart can’t even keep up with all the new demand in Obama ,s new recovered economy.

I wonder if these folks’ cards will have a negative balance until enough months have passed to catch up to what they spent. There will be screaming, if so.

Some earlier threads with photos and lots of comments if anyone is interested in reading them.
There was a Walmart in Philadelphia MS that had a similar problem but they closed the store
until the cards came back up.

They’d have to. These are overdrawn accounts, technically.

I believe it is up to the Seller to verify the amount of money available on the card at the time of purchase.
Walmart failed to do so and I suspect will be paying for the overages that they processed. JMO

My first thought, too.

Sometimes ATM’s go bonkers and disgorge cash.

But the electronic records are intact, and the transactions are all on video, so the bank just debits your account.

Only a question of time before Black legislators, many of them lawyers, line up to explain why people should be allowed to keep their ill gotten goods.
